Confused by Solarforce Website

Hi all,

A already have 60-80 Lumen EDC lights and I was looking to add something brighter to my collection. I've heard good things about the L2 series of Solarforce, but I'm finding the website very confusing. Questions:

1. What are the differences among the L2, L2P, and L2M lights?
2. I don't understand the modes of drop in. What is 1-mode, 3-mode, etc?

I'm looking for a 200+ lumen output light that I can use with the A001 "Klingon" bezel. I'd like to use rechargeables with a primary option.

Suggestions? Explanations?

The number on the drop ins refers to the number of modes the circuit has. 1=one mode. 3= high-med-low for each tap of the switch and 5 adds strobe and SOS to the mix.

The L2m is the mini version, one 123 size battery. L2 is Standard and from what I can tell the L2p is hard anodized. Hard Anodize takes longer (if at all) for character marks (wear) to show.

Here is a site that explains the drop ins. The pages on the light bodies (they sell ala carte) is somewhat confusing at first. You can mix and match to get a package just for you.

Now two more questions:

1. If I get the A001 bezel, is it better to get the black version or the gunmetal?

2. Is a 18650 just a AA battery (be kind when answering)?

all about personal preference at this point

nope! it's a much bigger cell.
an 18650 is a lithium-ion rechargeable battery.. I suggest you head over to the battery section and read about safety and the hazards of using tihs type of cell chemistry before deciding to use it.

there's an 18650 next to the AA battery.

As Craig said, it's personal preference on the colour.

I should have asked the question better. Let me re-phrase:

It's not clear from the website whether the A001 bezel is black, silver, or both. If I order the silver model L2, will the A001 bezel look silly?

Although I suppose if anyone laughed, I could just yell, "Q'plah!" and kill them where they stood. But which would look cooler (not that the wife would let me bring home any supermodels)?

There's a thread featuring Solarforce lights which started some months ago. I moved it from the LED Flashlights section to the Flashlight Collecting section (my post #254). 2 members in posts #255 and #256 predicted this move would result in the quick death of the thread; however, 400 posts later, it is still going strong, now on post #661 and climbing.

I mention this not only to embarrass the 2 members concerned and maybe make them blush, lol (!!) but because there's a lot of info there and some keen Solarforce afficionados who follow the thread and I am sure will be happy to help you.

Yes, I did see that thread. I thought my questions would be "easy" ones. I will look at this thread more closely and see if more of my questions get answered. Thanks for the reminder... and not much really makes me blush these days so no worries
