I found out that CR-V3 batteries contains 2 AA sized cylinders. Each measure 3.2v. Higher than regular AA, about 2x higher.

What are the possible uses of these AA sized batteries? Are there lights out there that can take 2x the regular AA voltage? Will these lights run brighter, longer?

Any suggestions and tips appreciated.

Yes, a 14500 compatible light would run on those. But why would you want to, considering the cost of CR-V3s? I disassembled a failed Delkin rechargeable CR-V3 the other day hoping I could salvage one of the cells, but it turned out that those cells were shorter due to the space needed for the protection circuitry.

The ones that can take a 14500 properly can definitely run on those batteries.

The ones that can run on 2 AAs can also run on those batteries. Like the Fenix L1D, one of those batteries will give you the performance of the L2D in the L1D size.

I think someone here tested the MTE Seoul with 2 AAs and it works.

The batteries are pretty costly though.

Anyways, I hatched a plan to have maybe 6 of these (at 3v each = 18v total) in a 2D Mag with a 3 AA to D cell converter driving a 12v 20 watt bulb HOTWIRE!

Did not work. The light is relatively dim, relative to an ROP, sucks!

Wow, great deal on those! I'd love to get some at that price!
I think the L1D is one the nicest ones to appreciate those cells since it does not function properly with 14500 (loses low modes).

That said, any 14500 light could work: Jetbeam IBS, Nitecore DI or D10, Liteflux LF5XT, Lumapower COnnexion.

The IBS may pull too much current on max tho. The others should be fine.

It works!

I got a L1D body, screwed the L2D head on it and used the 3v single AA from a CR-V3. Bright single AA light!

Does anyone know the mah rating of thoes batteries?AA have about 20% more volume then 123s.maybe around 1800 or so.I have one in my jetbeam C-LE but I don't use it much.

I wonder if they could run an L1D as bright as a L2D and keep the lower levels which 14500s at 4.2V can't do.

The answer is YES. My light kept it's low with the AA from a CR-V3.
