To piggy back on the thread awhile back that discussed the possibility of an AA version of the Fenix E01, I would love to see a CR123a based light that used a premium 5mm LED and was built as small as possible and to to take abuse. Something like the Milky candle but meant for actual use. Don't know if I would want a reflector or optic but an optic would probably work better. Would 20 lumens be possible? Water resistance would be a must. I think this is a good idea myself as I don't want to have to carry different types of batteries, and something that light and small could be a keychain light or be worn around the neck. Anyone else like this idea? I'm surprised there isn't one out...

A single 5mm with 20 lumens?
I thought the brightest GS LEDs were 10 lumens.

But then again, you can run it at higher currents, resulting in less life?

Oh its' only 10 lumens it puts out? Argh I thought there were brighter ones. But I still think my idea is valid.

Does it have to based on a discrete 5mm led or can it utilize something even smaller like a Rebel led? There seem to be plenty of ideas with a tiny Rebel platform.

I think its a good idea.Would make for very long runtimes.

On the other hand,I know its not a 5mm LED,but it would be fairly simple to use a current cr123 platform and accomplish something similar.

An XR-E or XP-E R2 bin driven at 40mA would be ~15lm-18lm,>140lm/W with power consumption being around 1/10th of a Watt.
