Cracked 6P lens

Accidentally dropped my 6P (chest height level), and now, I have a cracked lense and a busted lamp.

I know I can easily purchase a lamp assembly, but where can I get the lens replacement if there are any?

Is it easy to replace the lens?

I've already sent an inquiry to SF but no replies yet.

The price of stupidity. *sigh*

Don't email SF, phone them. They will repair the glass window, it is included in the warranty. :)

I dropped my 9P from table height yesterday ... the glas is ok, but the bezel has a nice dent at the front. The material is just too thin at there, imho.

Do I still have to ship the one with the busted lens (I'm not in US.)?

I also tried to look at their site if they are selling any, but I think not.

You can purchase a standard bezel if that is what you want - it's a Z44-BK and you can order it from your local friendly SureFire Dealer - There are several really good ones in Asia: SureFire Korea , Supremeco etc

SureFire are easier to reach by phone than by email. I think it's likely that they will send you a replacement bezel.

So there's no where that you can buy just a replacement pyrex lens?

I was hoping to replace the plastic lens in my G2 with a pyrex one...

I would call surefire first before dissassembly, but if your the curious kind [people like me], take a needlenosed plier and fit the tip into two of the 6 gaps on the inside of the front end then twist as you would a screw, about one rotation then the retaining ring comes off and the lens is free:grin2:

As I posted in the other thread, I believe that the only replacement for the acrylic windows is acrylic. They snap in and you'd break glass. If you want glass, I believe you have to replace the whole bezel.

Would you be willing to send the lamp to me for study?

Nice try. :)

I think I saw one at Surefire.com.hk, but the list is not updated. It's worth a shot if nothing happens with SF.

BTW, does SF ship replacement overseas (I'm not from US)?

Isn't it glued to the bezel by loctite or something?

It's broken, isn't it? You said you were going to buy a new lamp assembly so I figured your broken one wasn't needed for a warranty replacement or anything... I was just trying to get some known-failure samples to look at, there's no other motives here.

Just called Surefire out and they confirmed that they can send international delivery (six weeks).

Weird thing is that the customer support only asked for my name and address and nothing else after stating my problem. Is this normal?

That was meant as a joke. Hehehe. :naughty: I liked reading your thread, kinda enlightened me on how thing look like when they fail.

Too bad the busted lamp doesn't show any obvious signs of failure or I might have donated it.

That's the point. We *know* the failure is mechanical, so looking at it will teach us something about how mechanical failures look. It's no problem if you don't want to send it; I don't want you to feel obligated. I just explained myself because I thought you thought I was trying to get away with something :)

They have never asked me to justify warranty issues. They have great customer service.

not that I know of...at least not on my G2...i've takin the bezel ring off to clean the lens time and time again...:ohgeez:

dunno whether my haphazard methods of cleaning will damage the window or not...:ohgeez:

Its funny how these lights will break under varying circumstances for different people. I dropped my 6P yesterday from atop a 6 foot ledge onto a marble floor, and thought for sure when I heard that gut-wrenching clatter that something had broken. Surprisingly nothing had and the light still works fine.

I get a good laugh realized that of all the tools I employ, I'm probably what's going to fail first lol.
