I was getting horrible times from the energizer lithiums and wanted to kick it up, so I tried two AW 123 cells. I didn't know much about li-ions at the time (still don't...) but at worst I thought it simply wouldn't work. Instead it doesn't work with ANY cells now. There was no explosions or fires or anything... just wouldn't turn on. Won't turn on at all now, even with other supported batts. It is a Kodak EasyShare. Post screw-up I checked the manual, which states the camera supports: "lithium batteries AA", "alkaline batteries AA", "Kodak oxy-alkaline digital camra batteries AA", "Kodak Ni-MH rechargeable digital camera batteries", and "Kodak Ni-MH rechargeable digital camera battery KAA2HR".

Is my camera done in for good? Is there anything I can do to bring it back to life? It's just a cheapy, but still, I'd like to save it if I can.

Thanks.

Wait, how did you fit 123 sized cells into an AA camera?

Yeah, what?
And if you meant that the camera normally takes lithium 123s, then you put in about 2.5v too many.

It's dead Jim :poof:

My daughter and mother-in-law both have EasyShare cameras and as far as I know, they only take a pair of AA cells.

I'm really curious how you got a pair of 16340 cells in there.
If you used 14500 cells, that would make more sense.

+1. How did you manage to fit the fat CR123 batteries in the AA slots? I agree with others - your camera is dead. I fried my radio-clock this way - fed 240v into the machine designed to take 120v - it sang a song for 10 seconds before shutting down. :-/

So that's that. Live and learn. Moving on, is there anything of use or 'value' in this corpse? I mean, it was almost new, so perhaps some of the parts might be useful to keep around for... for... what? Nothing? Just checking before put 'er out to pasture.

Well, if you can't get the company to replace it (I imagine they would) you have a big 220v capacitor, some stepper motors, lenses, an IR/UV filter... but I imagine most of that is useless to you.
