Why does it seem as if more lights are using cree led with there trait for rings vs Seoul P4? Any of my mods I choose a seoul led. Plus they are easier to work with for the modders. Just wondering why more manufactures are not useing seoul.I definitly have enough cree led lights, now that Ive ordered the d10!
Has anyone tried a seoul p4 in a NDI or othr cree light?

I know with the right reflecter they can get rid of the rings.LF 5 and my Q3 modeed with cree show no rings.

In order of modding preference for me.
1. Cree
2. New K2 or Rebel
3. Seoul p4

I think the Cree might be easier to obtain then the Seoul in quantity.

I like the glass dome vs. the gummy dome.
I don't like the positive slug.
I prefer the Cree beam compared to the p4 when used with a good reflector.
The Cree is amazing in an aspheric mag.
I like the new silver coating on the newer Crees.

Because of how they are made, Cree's generally have better thermal dissipation. I believe they are also generally available in greater quantity. Also, they are available in much tighter binning than SSC.

I also prefer Cree's because of the above mentioned reasons. Plus I've seen more cases of failing SSC's than Cree's.

I think the Cree's are a bit more rugged. The Seoul P4's also seem to lean more toward the cool side or bluish tint. I prefer neutral white to slightly warm. For modding the P4's are easier to put into former Luxeon lights though.

I think the ring comes from the metal ring around the Cree XR-E LED.

Seoul P4s are good for Luxeon swaps and smooth reflectors.

Seoul P4s don't seem to be as tough as the Cree XR-Es.

Cree:
better thermal path
neutral slug
perfect beam with good reflector
"feels" more rugged
warmer tint
way smaller binning range
no tint shift

(any) Seoul so far:
sould have WAY more output than my Crees but have not
positive slug
more on the blue side
tint shift to the blue on high

any mod so far, using higher rated P4s, sucked,
now I just use star mounted ones for quick mods for friends - no expensive reflector needed, working with Reflector fot whatever led is inside the crappy lights.
(my mods still see Cree)
