Cree XPG R5 Lumen At 1200ma?

Any idea how many lumes an Cree XPG R5 should in theory should be outputting when cooled properly and driven beyond its rating at 1000, 1100 & 1200ma?

And how does that over driving have relation to the forward voltage?
 
Is there any current LED chip that is more efficient than the XPG R5 at 1000ma?
 
Yes , but there not available as yet .

Still waiting on the XP-G S2 , ???? dont know whats happening there , + Cree sais there will be a new emitter out later this year , 160Lumen per 350mA and its rated to 2A , do the math . On paper its over 800Lumen .. From a single die emitter @ 2A .. Should make a lot of P60 fans very happy , especially flashlight moders . :whistle:
 
Is it true that different Cree LEDs produce different beam patterns? Is this a function of color? Is there a beam difference between XPG and XPE?
 
There is a beam difference between XP-G and XP-E. XP-G has wider beam because of bigger die.
 
I know this is a lame question but how is it that LED efficiency is cited with respect to the amount of power drawn, but an actual flashlight's efficiency must take on some accounting for the configuration of the reflector and the setting of the emitter?

For instance in another forum, a particular European light is rated for incredible five hour run time for battery format. (4xAA) NiMH -- Either it is drawing less current or some one is lying about battery life? But they brag about the reflector.....
 
Because it's useful to know the efficiency of the standalone LED, when working with putting it into a flashlight...Am i missing your question?

Yes , depends on how hard the emitter is driven , not every one runs max output . Lie about run time ? it happens :shakehead . Hopefully the more reputable the manufacturer , the more accurate the information .
