Hello,
I was just wondering what process Cree utilizes to produce silicon carbide. Also, what coating do they use(phosphor?)?
Thank You

Hi, most SiC like that is grown by VPE, which for SiC is often solid sources. Since there are 128 different allotropes of SiC, and only a very few work, I am sure it is quite an exciting process control challenge.

edit - It occured to me that not everyone knows that VPE is vapor phase epitaxy, which more or less means growing crystals by condensing molecules onto a surface in a vacuum.
