QUESTION?
Bi-pin FM Axial (14.4V, 3.A) $12 Each (8 AVAILABLE)
Bi-pin FM Axial (6.6V, 3.3A) $12 Each (17 AVAILABLE)
Bi-pin FM Axial (4V, 3.3A) $12 Each (13 AVAILABLE)

Are they G4 bi-pin?
Yes, they are all G4 (Center to center 4mm apart pins) (Thickness of each pin 0.7mm)
-----------------------

Is 4V,3.3A ideal for one li-ion?
4 volt is ideal with 4 NiMH at 4.8 volt.
-----------------------

Is 6.6v for two also?
6.6 volt bulb is good with 2 large and strong IMRs.
-----------------------

would you suggest which of those bulbs provide the greatest throwy beam shape with sunlight module (yes, I am getting the one you suggested ) and with your b
i-focal reflectors?
Bi-pin WA01274-U has smaller filament and will provide focused beam in 1" Sunlight. For 2" bi-focal, G4 Bi-pin FM Axial (6.6V, 3.3A) will provide round hot spot.
-----------------------

FM, I just read some pretty old threads stating that people were using your 1499 and 1794 bulbs in their auroralite minimag kits without any modifications. Is that still possible with your current run of these bulbs?
I do have auroa socket only and works well with Mini M*g Turbo Head using 1794
1499 is exactly same as before and never revised.
Sorry, I don't have aurora standard size reflector to test with current 1794
-----------------------

G4 Bi-pin FM Axial (6.6V, 3.3A)- How does this bulb compare to the WA01111?
would it likely have longer life than the 1111 in my set-up?
Axial will have longer life because driving with less stress. Axial can even take 7 NiMH and in this case brighter than WA1111 with 6 NiMH
And yes, axial has nicer and round beam shape.

-----------------------

The first 4 bi pin bulbs you listed. What base pin configuration are they?
Every G4 bulb has pins of 4mm apart (center to center) and thickness of pin is 0.7mm. Similar to WA1111, WA1185 and....
-----------------------

And the axial 14.4 3A g4 bulb. Which bulb is that? I can't find any info online but at 43w it looks good
Sorry,
14.4 volt bulb is not axial and was custom made for
1450 Lumens 14.4V flashlight.

-----------------------

I need some help on selecting the right bulb, I just got a FM 1000 lumen E-fire host, what bulbs would work or work best in this with 2 IMR 16430 set up?
Best available bulb at this time is: Bi-pin Carley 1499 (NO MORE AVAILABLE)
-----------------------

Do you know if this bulb below will work the same as the CL1499 or FM1794 since the voltage and current looks similar?

Bi-pin WA01274-U (7.2V, 2.77A)
WA01274-U is a G4 bi-pin and won't fit in flashlights designed for 1499 or 1794
Also WA01274-U can take more overdrive than 1499 or 1794

-----------------------
could those potted cl1499 be extracted from their pots and used in their original, bi-pin entity?
This is not a good idea.
CL1499 comes with 2 long pins. Why buy a potted one and try to remove from pot?

-----------------------
Would any of the potted bulbs listed work well in a maglite?
Sure. That's why they are potted so can be used in any incand. M*g "C" and M*g "D"
-----------------------
What about the potted frosted carly 1499? That sounds like it could be neat to try. Would the dimensions work at all with a bifocal reflector?
Yes, it will work properly with cammed Bi-Focal reflector and provide nice and soft beam shape.
-----------------------
The reason I wanted to extract pottet 1499 was because your frosted version are only potted ones also. And I like frosted bulbs very much. So can I extract them if I want?
You can frost any bi pin bulb yourself using ARMOUR ETCH.
Removing bulb from potted PR base may cause glass break.

-----------------------
I have the FM Bin Pin
For the 2 x 18650, do you have any suggestions for these bulbs?
Runtime and Lumens?
If your bi-pin socket takes G4 bulb, with 2 protected 18650 (3400 mAh) WA1274 will run well over an hour at spec.
If your bi-pin socket is G2 then FM1794 is your bright choice with pair of protected 18650

-----------------------
I am currently using a 6.6 axial bulb with a PHD-M6 pack set at 6.8V. At this voltage the bulb looks significantly underdrived, compared to 1111. The next available voltage with my pack is 7.5V, do you think it is safe for the 6.6V bulb to try?
Axial 6.6 can easily take 8.4 volt so 7.5V will shine better than 6.8V
-----------------------
do you think if frosting 1794 and 646XX bulbs would make their life considerably shorter due to uneven heating?
There are different ways to frost a bulb envelope such as sand blasting, acid etching, adding extra frosted layer and ...
Choosing best method will reduce chance of shortening the life.

-----------------------
the 4V axial bulb, do you know of any currently available 1D host w/ 4 eneloop adapter?
I will let you know soon as I find one.
-----------------------
the 4V axial bulb, do you have an idea how hard it could be overdriven?
It can be overdriven to about 5 volt. So 4 Eneloops will be perfect fit.
-----------------------
are you able to alluminize the bulbs?
Unfortunately, I am not.
-----------------------
What is best host for 11V, 2Amp bulb?
If you need smaller host, these are your choice with 3 IMR18350, but if longer run time is needed with better throw, then these 3x18500 will serve you better.
-----------------------
1. the 11V 2A bulb are axial
Yes, 11 volt, 2 Amp bulb is axial with G2 base. (NO MORE AVAILABLE.)
2. you can frost this bulb, and for $2 each
Sorry, I don't do that at all.
what is the ESB bulb?
ESB is the brand name. This is aftermarket G4 bulb with specification close (but not exact same) of WA1111
have you ever tried an incand bulb in a light with a 2-stage tail, like L1/L2?
I don't have and never tried two stage tail.
-----------------------
FM, can you provide some info on G4 bi-pin WA01154 bulb?
WA1154 is a G4 12V. 3A bulb with 2500 hours life which can take lots of overdrive. Safely overdriven WA1154 is much brighter than WA1185
-----------------------
What is a good choice, if any for a 2x16650 in a G4 socket? M4 host
G4 Bi-pin WA01274-U is safe bright and acceptable run time on pair of protected or IMR 16650
-----------------------
Hello.
What is your bulb recommendation for 3x18650 host (with batteries up to 8 amp) + surefire turbo head?
The host is your host.
WA01331-U and WA01318-U are same voltage, same current and have same bulb life.
Both bulbs are perfect choice for three protected 18650 with very bright and white beam and also reasonable runtime.
If you want maximum brightness, FM1909 with three IMR 18650 cells will deliver about 2000 lumens but shorter runtime.

Your FM1794 bi-pin bulb apparently has a G2 base, instead of G4. Would this go into one of your T1.5 base bi-pin sockets, with the pins slightly pinched together?
When you say that the Carley 1499 is frosted and potted, does that mean that it is now in the type of "bayonet flange" base that simply drops into a Maglite?
T1.5 is size of bulb glass. T stands for tubular and 1.5/8=0.1876" which is approximate diameter of glass.
G2 is base of bulb and two pins are 2mm apart (center to center). This bulb is designed for smaller flashlights and don't fit in G4 adapters.
Potted means glued into metal cups which called PR base. Same as older M*g "C" and "D" and doesn't need adapter. It's direct fit.
I hope this helps.

Potted for what?
Potted in PR base just like older incand M*g "C" and "D" bulbs such as KPR, XPR and HPR

Sorry to mess up your shiny new thread, fivemega, but I haven't bugged you in a while, and I hope to get some lamps next year.
Potted WA01185-U (9.6V, 3.15A) $14 Each (2 AVAILABLE) (Use 9 Eneloop or 3 protected)

Potted for what? IOW, what do these fit in? If KT4 (or z46 somehow), I hope to take both by February, if they're still around. Tempt the wrath of my tiny shaking fist any who would scoop me. jk.

As i understood they are 1185 cemented into pr base.

Ah, bummer. If they knew anything, Mag owners should buy those fast. Bright, apparently very long lasting and with a lovely color temperature. fwiw, I've been running G4 bipin WA1185 on 3 IMR with no issues. But I worry, and I can't find more to replace what I have.

btw, thanks alpg88
&fivemega there are other lamps I want, so expect. Thx.
