Cut down 6P to a 3P??

I wonder if it was possible to cut down a Surefire 6P to a 3P, I was thinking of cutting it by the head and having it welded back on. Is this possible??
I was really wanting to get a 3P body to use with the Cree dropins for the Surefire..but the 3P is hard to come by.

My cree drop in does not work with a single cell. Might want to make sure that your application will work first. I tried it on my E1e body with an E-C adaptor and a 6P head and nothing. Let me know if you DO get it to work. I think it would be a cool light.

Not to run this thread off topic, but I have an old 6P that I wouldn't mind cutting down for a project. Can anyone recommend a 3P super light combo if I cut it down?

Since you asked, I have an old 3P that used to sport a detonator extender, SW01 tailcap, and KT1 turbohead. The only thing I was missing was a turbohead LED module. Lost interest in it after getting a few other lights.

My next plan is for a RPM tail, detonator extender and old style KL3, all in black. That will be my perfect medium sized light.

I waited a long time to find a decent price on a 3P, and am glad I stuck through it.

I have a 3P here that I dont use anymore, very good condition, shelf queen.
But I'd like to get the new version of the Inova T1 (all black, two CR123s) as this one will not be easy to get here.
Would prefer to trade...

Have you considered using a Leef body 1x18500 with your current Surefire bezel and tailcap? I will hold one 18500 rechargable battery and run a Cree dropin. The body is only slightly longer than the 3p body, maybe one half a CR123 battery longer.

I had looked at the LEEF body in 18500, I may end up purchasing one, however, I'm going to try and find a Surefire part from a weapon light L30 that allows the bezel to attach to either a A19 extender (with a slight mod) or A21. If no luck there, I may get a LEEF body, I was hoping LEEF would make a small run of bodys in R123.
