Is the Maglite LED as good as any for the price?

Must be D-Cell since any other battery is very difficult to get where it's going to be used.

The newer Maglite LEDs lights are nice from what I hear, there's also the Fenix TK60 if you want more output and modes. I'm not sure how many other lights use D cells.

The Mag Lite 3D has ludicrous runtime stated, but dims throughout that eighty hours. It's still plenty of light for work, and eighty hours is a LONG time (Twenty days at four hours per day).

The Rayovac Indestructible has a 2-D LED offering available at Wal-Mart. The sucker is huge for a 2-D. So, naturally, I'm going to buy it sooner or later. :D

You can also find Eveready 2-D LED flashlights in their "workman yellow" design. I haven't played with one personally, so I can't tell you how the runtime compares.

I was wondering if there was a 2 D version of the light, I'll keep that in mine next time I'm out.

What about a D cell light and a LED bulb? You won't get as much output though (very little heatsinking = low output or LED burns to death).

I just picked up the Rayovac unit from Walmart. Pleasantly surprised for an inexpensive light.

I have an Energizer Eveready Incandescent 2-D light with a LED upgrade. It works reasonably well; no heat buildup that I can see, although I haven't run it for extended periods.

It's by the door as a handy grab light. I also won't break down in tears if it gets torn up.

I picked up one of the 2D's tonight also, very pleased with it. Great budget thrower!
