Does anyone own D10's in both Q5WC and R2 versions? If so is the Q5 a noticeably more neutral tint than the R2? I can't resist the D10 calling any longer, but I'm hoping to avoid purchasing another blue tint beam. I found one post by DHart where the D10 R2 beam appears somewhat neutral. Hopefully one of my fellow members has experience with the bin tints in question. I would appreciate any and all input you have so I can select the most "neutral" white tint prior to purchasing a D10. Thanks in advance for any information you can share.

I can't offer a direct comparison between Nitecore tints, but I do know that my D10 R2 is much more neutral than any of my other Q5 WC lights. It does have a hint of green in it compared to my 5A tint emitters, though. I personally prefer the slight greenish R2 to the blue/violet WC myself.

Although, as it's been said, I guess you can't be guaranteed the same tint as my light, or anyone else's, when you go with the R2. I can't wait for my D20 Q5 to get here, though, so I can run a direct comparison. I sure hope it isn't as blue as my T100C2's XP-E Q5 WC. :green:

It also bears repeating that colour perception is such a subjective thing.

To me, the WC tint is pure white without a hint of blue, but what looks white to one person may look blue to another (and others may think a 'neutral' tint looks white whereas it might look yellow to me).

The yellow I can get along with, but a 'hint of green' is the one that would really make me feel :green:

At least with the Q5 you are getting a guaranteed bin (WC), whereas the R2 may be a bit more of a lottery.

True CPF form (as I have done and MerkurMan is about to do) is to get one of each  and compare !

Q5 and R2 are flux bins, not tint bins. But keep in mind thhe Q5 is locked into WC, which is a ice white. The R2 is a lottery.

That's right. And for the R2 lottery, bulk of stock are slightly warmer than Q5 (verified by a dealer).

Thank you for all the quick responses. I've been convinced WC in ice white will suffice. I probably wouldn't notice 15 extra lumens if I saw it anyway. Thanks again for all the input. It's time to order!
