The D2S HID lamp has a metal ring on the base & metal contact under the center of the base.

Does any one know which is positive?

I assume the one in the center/bottom is positive, but don't want to get it wrong.

Planning to solder wires from ballast directly to the lamp.

thanks

Most HID ballasts are AC output to the bulb except most use DC for initial starting only. These bulbs are designed for AC operations.

Because it is AC there is no polarity concern except in the starting phase. The nipple in the bulb base should be Pos (+), the ring around the base should be (-) neg, power return.
