Just checked Dereelight's website, and they've released a new P60 module today, and it's infinitely adjustable! 60mA-1.2A, and mode memory. It seems like there's only one mode, but this could be a plus for a tactical light.

On their website: http://www.dereelight.com/new.htm

I for one am really glad Dereelight has produced a pill like this, as they seem to get everything else right. A two-mode version may make the CL1H the perfect lights :) (for those ----- lovers, I'll say to me, at least).

Well, I don't see another post like this, so since it was posted today by Dereelight, I may actually be the first to post flashlight news :eek:oo:

That would be a great dropin if it will fit in my Pila GL2. Looking forward to more info and pricing.

Personally, I'm not interested in a single user adjustable level. I want at least 2 or even better 3 user adjustable levels.

I don't get how to set it and if that would be a problem with a forward switch where you might be turning it on for short times here and there. Would that kind of activity keep bringing up the settings mode?

It's a P60 module designed to drop into SF's, the Dereelights, etc. There are only so many options for the UI since the only way to adjust it is to turn it on or off. It's not a Novatac or something with a 2-stage switch, a 2 stage bezel, etc.

Obviously this set up wouldn't be for everyone, but it would be nice for a casual user who doesn't mind playing around with the output for different tasks.

It's a bit hard to understand the UI from the website, but my guess is this:

With the light on, turn it off, and back on within 1 second. With a forward clicky you could lightly press to turn it on, let go, and lightly press again within a second (without clicking the switch if it's a forward clicky) and continue to hold as the light level cycles to the desired output, then turn it off for more than one second. When you turn it back on the desired light level is in memory, as long as you don't turn it off and on again in less than a second.

Maybe not the greatest UI, but I'm not sure what more could be done considering it's a P60 designed to be put into lights with forward clickies, or just momentary on, switches.

You program it through morse code. :eek:oo:

LOL. The UI only responds if you morse code "INCREASE ILLUMINATION" or "DECREASE ILLUMINATION"

Random signaling/strobbing wouldn't change the mode. :p

I have one of these pills on order, I'll report when I get it.

Nah, it's SOS. That way when you're trying to signal for help the light will decide to reprogram itself instead. :ohgeez:

Perhaps they should get a translator in additional to having someone redesign their site.
No point having it look good while the English used is still all over the place...

On the other hand, I don't think its that hard to try and understand.
Why you people are complaining about its interface and making it sound (difficult?) like morse code is beyond me.
Furthermore, morse code isn't that hard anyway. It's meant to be used when you're in trouble and have no other form of contact/communication
You'd think that with the NovaTac UI, this one seems pretty straightforward.

Is this the standard reaction to anything new/unknown? Nowonder Bush bombed Iraq :p

From what i gather, it seems like a tap then hold (within 1 second) would adjust the brightness.

wow. I didn't expect someone to order it this fast, but knowing someone did, WadeF would be the first suspect :grin2:

I really wouldn't mind having to tinker around a bit, as long as the basic functions (on/off/momentary-on) are still useable. I was previously looking at a 1-stage, since this is purely a thrower and I don't want to go cycling through modes, but this may allow me to get that, and add a low mode if I need it.

according to the updated Dereelight sales threads, the pill costs the same as a 2SD/3SD. :twothumbs

What kind of lumen output could 60mA be putting out the front?
Well a Q5 is around 100 emitter lumens with 350mA, so scale it linearly and you get about 17 emitter lumens. Factor in losses it should be around 12 lumens.

That's what is really turning my crank! This drop in is just the push I need to get me to buy that Surefire G2! I think they'd make and awesome combination.

Neat. Now I need to find how to buy one!

Retested with fresh cells,
at 60mA, 3SD is closer to 20lm,..but it really isn't less than that.
