Where is the difference between the Ultrafire WF 139 and the Trustfire charger TR-001 ? Is there a difference? wich is the better one ?

I have the TR-001 and it is a very good charger, cells coming off at 4.15v which is good. There are many reports in the forum about the UF139 overcharging cells and shortening their life which is why I went for the TF charger.

I have owned a couple of Ultrafire 138's, a 16340 only version of the 139, and found there was a big difference between end of charge voltage on each unit. I got rid of the higher voltage charger. Maybe this is typical of the Ultrafire units.

On the Dealextreme website, it is reported that to charge 16340/CR123 size cells on the Ultrafire, you have to bridge the gap with a paperclip(!). No problem with the Trustfire though.

The TR-001 is available with 2 different PCBs.
One version says WF-139 V1.2 - it overcharges to 4.3V but this site here shows a solution how to solve that probleme.

The TR-001 is charging much slower than the WF-139. (See the graphs on the site above.)
The second PCB version has been shown at a German forum. No further details on the second version yet.

Here the pic of the other PCB version of the TR-001:

btw. this is from a German forum. The website/google translation that I have linked in my post above is a Chiniese one.

I had a really hard time understanding that translation but from the graphs it appears that the TR-001 is really really really slow in charging. 4 hours for the ultrafire vs 11 hours for the Trustfire... if that's correct that's a pretty huge difference.

Also, if your batteries are protected, wouldn't that stop the charger from overcharging them past 4.2v anyways? Or is protection only for under-current (<2.7v)?
