Differences in the Fenix Tk11 PCBs?

I'm not certain, but it looks like yours may have reverse polarity protection, and the other doesn't.
 
Fenix TK11 specs show that the TK11 R5 has "Anti-reverse protection". Specs for Q5 and R2 say nothing about it. I'd say Zatoichi nailed it.:)

The way it works, those 2 extra bits prevent the flat (-) end of the cell touching the (+) contact. I imagine cells with a flat positive end would have a problem with that, unless you used a little magnet or a blob of solder? I've actually heard of the protective bits dropping off, so maybe you could prise them off. The design without those extra 2 bits shouldn't have a problem with flat ended cells.

It's not really my area at all, but if you understand how it works I'm sure you can find a way around it. :D
