Hi folks

I'm searching for a P60 Host (6P-9P size), that is waterresitant up to 30m/100ft. I only know one light, that woud be nice: a SF6p navy seals version...but this light is a bit too expensive. Pelican is making a lot of dive lights, but I didn't found an exact resitance level for the M6.

I don't care if the light is a 2x cr123, 3xcr123 or a 18650 (or something else).

The body should be made of aluminium, because I want to put a drop in in.

is there a light out there, that would fit?

Thanks

Nico

Don't know, but is a great idea.
I would be nice to have a P60 host as a back-up when diving and change the drop in from time to time.

For I'm a poor student, it would be my main light, but thats exactly my idea. It wold ba a VERY nice emergency light in the car (or somewhere else) and a nice dive light. And your everytime up to date for you can change the drop-ins. For EDC I'll get my H30 in a couple of days, and with it a TK10 as a durable light for rough use.

Nico

ps...does the word diveable exist in the english language? my english is bad...forgive me.

Diveable is a good word. Your english is better than some english speaking members here.

Okay, back on topic. About the SureFire 6PN, I have read on this forum that you cannot take the light apart, even to change the batteries, without compromising its dive rating and that you must send it to SureFire for that.

WHAT???

so they take a 6P, glue it together ans say now its a navy seals dive light? I'd never expect that from Surefire....realy?

The Watertight 6P version is the one i mentioned above...:

It's a german link sorry...it says:In case identical to the 6P, but but modified to stand water up to 100ft/30m. So it became gear for US Navy Seals, and is now available here.

No. The way I heard it, they test 6Ps randomly and the ones that are able to be water resistant to more than the advertised depth (33 feet, or something like that) and sell it as a 6PN. Opening up the light apparently ruins it's special water-proof abilities.

The SureFire 6PN does not have a glued head. It is identical to a regular 6P except for a second o-ring in the tail.

ah yes the only dive 6p posted here is on a german site. a great moment to know german {as i currently do :nana: } yeah there is not a difference but the extra o-rings.

Translation from site in post six: almost the same as the SureFire 6P however it was modified so that until 100 ft it is watertight. So it became the in the equipment of the US Navy Seals and is now also avalable here.

:D

I dont think that 1 O ring is worth the extra money...

Normally, every o-ring protected joint in a SureFire should be water resistant to 30m or so. However that only applies to static joints, not joints that need to turn while submerged. Because the tail-cap switch needs to rotate a second o-ring was needed.

I'm not aware of any dive rated P60 hosts, sorry. I'd think the 2nd o-ring would help though; plus I'd be sure to use lots of heavy lube to fill any gaps in the threads and prevent water from seeping in at any areas where the threads are a bit loose, or for when you have to twist the tailcap. Good luck!

The dive light market is pretty well covered by Underwater Kinetics and Pelican. There are a few small companies like Barbolight, but they are usually more expensive.

Princeton Tech as well. What about the humble Tec40? Isn't it comparable to a P60?

Correction - the "standard" dive light market is well covered by UK, Pelican and Princeton Tec.

Lights from Dive Rite, Nite Rider, and Manta/Green Force are really much better products, but unfortunately not very readily available. I got to play around with some Green Force stuff a few days ago, and my god is it beautiful. Triple o-rings. Ace.

Anyway, if someone can make a P60 compatible housing, I will likely A) buy that product immediately and B) love you forever.
