I have heard many good things about Wayne's lights and I want to know first hand if you CPF'ers still like your elektrolumens lights? I am seriously considering buying my first one, but which one? I have a decent collection of production lights, but I have never bought a custom light. Is the quality and performance as good as I have heard? I would like to spend about 200.00 for one, but I guess I am looking for suggestions... I am looking at the Quad star phaser for a big light, and the Lucidus-xr3 for a medium light. I will be using them for fun as well as campouts with Cub/Boy scouts with my son. I've got some Cree lights which I love, and have heard good things about the other LEDs he uses, so please enlighten me as to the quality and performance of these lights or any other Elektrolumens lights you have and are they worth the money? Thanks in advance.

I betcha some of the Boy Scouts have one of these.

A very nice light built by Wayne from Elektro Lumens.

My EL lights have become by go-to lights. I've got a Lucidus XR2, two Blaster 1D's, and a Stunner. I have to say that these lights are mighty fine, and have grown on me over time. My Lucidus has seen some good use over the last 9 months.

They are worth every cent.

I've purchased a 3D Blaster from Wayne and concur that the quality and fit are outstanding. Wayne is a stand-up guy and produces top shelf lights! I have recently placed an order for the upcomming Blaster 3C series. This is the light that I would suggest you start with mainly because of the multi-level operation:

Elektro Lumens Presents

Blaster-PWM
Multi-Brightness levels: 180 lumens/90 lumens/45 lumens
6,890+ Lux at 1 meter on high setting!!

3 C cells:
Three brightness levels, using PWM Technology (Pulse Width Modulation

Multiple power levels include:

100%: Battery life 12 hours to 50% original brightnes
50%: Battery life 24 hours to 50% original brightness
25%: Battery life 48 hours to 50% of original brightness
Slow strobe: (Run time untested)
Fast strobe: (Run time untested)

6,890+ lux @ 1 meter

180+ lumens on high setting!

Dimensions:

Length: 10 1/2 Inches
Head diameter: 1 7/8 "
Body diameter: 1 1/4"
Weight: 14 oz.

PWM: Pulse Width Modulation, means that the LED is actually turning on/off at a very fast frequency, so fast your eye can never detect it. But it is a remarkable way to manage power consumption and brightness levels. Many flashlights use a voltage or current regulation circuit, which can consume up to 30% or more of the power just to regulate. Not so with the Elektro Lumens PWM-IQ switch. Nearly 100% of the power goes to the LED, so energy efficiency is remarkable.

Using the Seoul Semiconductor P4 LED. Approximately 180 lumens at full power in this flashlight.

Uses a IMS 27mm reflector, for unsurpassed brightness and beam quality. Gives a 6 degree narrow beam for long distance viewing, yet still plenty of side spill for close up viewing.

I have 2 Elektrolumens Little Friends. The 1st is a 3x3W Luxeon. I got another when Wayne offered them with the SSC-P4 LED. Both have excellent construction and are very bright on high. Brightness on low was nothing to brag about but Wayne was trying to get 2 hours runtime.

I got a Lucidus XR-1 as that is the only 1AA light that will run for 3+ hours with reasonable brightness. It is unfortunately bigger than most of the 1AA lights out there. It is short enough my thumb and forefinger ends up on the grooves on the wider head making for a less comfy hold than the competition. This should not be a problem with the longer XR-2 or XR-3.

Wayne is looking at building Blaster-1C-2C-3C. They may be a better compliment to the Quadstar Phazer as they use the same batteries. So do the Blaster PWM 3C.

Personally I do not like lights that are too long. Problem carrying them around when not actually using them. I will probably stay away from the Blaster PWM, Blaster 3C, Lucidus XR-3. I live downtown and do not need the extra throw of these lights over their 2 cell counterparts.

I was lucky enough to get one of the first of these, and it is one of my favorite lights.
Uses 3 C Cell regular batteries runs forever, and bright as hell. Not only that the price
is very affordable. If you can get one you will love it.

Ive got a blaster 3p,runs on 3D cells runds forever(over a week) and is focusable.I want to upgrade to a soeul p4.(working on that)

I have 2, xm3,1 upgraded to a seould p4,now 2x as bright, the other one is modded with a seoul p4 and a 1ooo ma ,5 mode driver(deal extream),going to run it on 3 2/3 AA nimh .Also a custom copper heatsink. No heat issues.

I have 1 little friend,Im going to replace with 3 seoul p4 to go from 216 to 540 lumens!,parts on the way!I am also going to replace the 9 v connecter with a BEC type.

Also 1 dacree Cree running on 18650,180 lumens, great throw.

All lights are built like tanks! Some of my most used lights.

Wayne's lights are as great as they say, and built for the long haul. You could use his lights every day and still pass them on to your grandchildren.

I own:

XM-3
Blaster 1R (2)
Blaster 1D
Blaster III (2)

On order:

Lucidus XR-2
Ohio 1C-2C

My favorites are the Blaster 1D, for form factor and long runtime, and the Lucidus, which uses the Cree optic. You have not seen a Cree XR-E with a beautiful beam until you've seen them with the Cree optic.

The Ohio 1C/2C is a continuation of the Blaster line in a C-cell format and contain the same long-running circuitry of the Blaster 1D. They should make excellent emergency lights. They are available now on the Elecktro Lumens Website for $69.99. For that price, you get the Ohio 1C with an extra 2C body to go with it.

I sent one of the 1 watt Anglelights with my best friend to the sandbox and he had no trouble with his. I latter got a 3 watt version for myself that sits in the kitchen that everybody uses for everything and it keeps on working.

Got a Tristar Phaser and a 3D Blaster. Well, I *had* a 3D blaster until my wife took it! She uses it constantly. The Tristar has lit more than one accident scene, a beautiful area light that has some throw too. Don't hesitate!

I just ordered the 1 SSC Anglelux this afternoon. It was sort of a nostalgia thing, as I had an original issue Fulton for years. I'm pretty new to LED lights, but thanks to this forum, I managed to upgrade all my Maglites, and discover this new addiction.

I got quite a surprise when I registered for the forum. I've never run into someone else with my first name on a forum before, so hello to donn in the UK, from donn in NY.
