Does a C-cell 3.7V booster exist?

I am curious to know if a single C cell booster exists to boost a 1.5V alkaline C-cell battery's voltage to ~3.7 volts.

I have seen several 3xAAA lights (I own one or two) which work well, but don't stay bright for very long. However, I noticed that I can fit a C-cell battery in the same space as a 3xAAA holder with some extra room (depth) to spare, and that is when I had the idea above.

I think a C cell regulated to 3.7V would give much better "usable" runtime than 3xAAA cells, especially in an unregulated flashlight. I am envisioning a small, thin "cap" on top of a C cell with regulator circuitry, that can be used with a C cell battery in your favorite 3xAAA light. I am not sure if this product exists, however. I seached CPF and Google, but did not find what I was after, so I'd like to know if anyone has ever seen this sort of accessory before.

DX has a few. I would recommend a 26500 IMR, there are a lot more options that way. TorchBoy has provided us with an easy compilation of drivers here, both in the thread and on his site.

I think that a driver board similar to this would work for a single alkaline, or NiMH C cell. I have used the linked driver with AA cells, and have been happy with the results. Do not use the driver board with an alkaline AA cell, or it will quickly dim.

Thanks for the links. After looking at DealExtreme, I found some of the circuit boards mentioned in TorchBoy's post; I will go through the post in detail. :twothumbs
