Does the flashlight fit in your mouth?

In all seriousness, there are many times I find myself holding a flashlight in my mouth. For this reason, length and weight become a factor when making a purchase.

How many of you find yourself in the middle of a task that requires the use of both of your hands, and end up just popping the flashlight in your mouth? I know, my mother would remind me that I don't know where the torch has been, but sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind... he he.

I just ordered a Quark mini 123. That one will ride in my mouth just fine!

because of this that i have headlamps.. :p

Seemed like a really popular thing to do with minimags on old PI shows like Simon & Simon, Banacek, and Magnum PI when they were cracking a safe or picking a lock, but with all kinds of nasty bacteria, viruses, and diseases on the loose these days a reverse clip on a ballcap brim or headlamp is my choice. There is also a risk of chipping or breaking a tooth too.

If nothing else I make do with a strip of duct tape or just position it nearby the best I can.

My mouth is the last (ok second to last) place I want my flashlight.

I use the my mouth with my smaller lights for brief hands free usage all the time. I use a headlamp for any task requiring prolonged hands free.

I'm very picky about what goes in my mouth. So, I would go as far as possible out of my way to avoid doing that. If I had to do it in some emergency, the first thing I'd do afterward is find a bottle of Listerine to rinse with. Yuck. That would certainly not be a consideration in making a purchase. Now, if I had a fruit roll up to wrap it in...

i do it all the time; especially with my single AAA lights. but i agree, headlights are best for prolonged tasks.

i'm not that worried about germs, keeps my immune system on its toes.

I put my jet III M in my mouth all of the time... but it's just a bit too big... I think my iTP A1 will be better.

As far as the whole germs thing goes... I think occasionally you need to give your immune system something to do. If it never has to work, when it does get something to attack, it has no idea how to.

I swam in tropical floodwaters as a kid, tools and flashlights get held in my mouth all the time, and on average I get sick once every 2 years. < end preach :p>

I do all the time... even with the 6P and MD2. Mouth gets tired quick though. AAA and single AA lights, no problem.

The devil may care about a germ on a flashlight, but I can't be bothered to give it a second thought.

I understand the utility of a headlamp, but don't have the ability to predict when I'll need hands free lighting. The sheer convenience of popping a small led light in your mouth wins hands down in my book.

Good to know I'm not the only one out there.

I do it all the time. Do it with things like screwdrivers, pens and my fingers too. I'm not fussy about what goes in there, one of my pet cockatoos even likes to stick his beak in there and chew my teeth.

I agree with you all, about an EDC light, always there when u need one. As well as keep that immune system working properly, I love headlights, but never seem to find one when I require one. Of course always have a small flashlight at the ready and inbetween the teeth, it works. *never give up a good idea*
