Hi all,
Very late to the game but I should get tomorrow a Surefire E1B MV which I think the stock LED is driven at around 1.7A and wanted to know what LED these have from the factory ?

Maybe a SST-20 with 3A driver would be a nice alternative;)

Thank you,
BigC

Humm. I always been a fanatic about small EDC with a ton of throw. This new DFT Turbo is just that and more than I could have thought possible.

But the E1b MV is so old school tiny looking and while about an inch shorter it just feels considerably smaller. I think I like it more and the mule like beam is another level. Maybe just needs a 3A driver and its a perfect EDC.

I've been thinking about getting one and possibly even modding it.

There's a Japanese website that sells Surefire and sometimes even does in-house mods. They did a run of these with high CRI Nichia 519A which would be great. That's probably what I'd put in there.
They also did a run of white and a range of coloured Osram LEDs.

I think the stock drive current on this light is more than enough for its size, possibly a touch more than necessary. If I were to swap the driver, the only reason I'd do that would be for programmability. Something like an H17Fx but I wouldn't come close to using the higher output.

Of all the E series I've modded, the ones where I kept the original drivers are my favourites.

Sounds like you really like the E1B-MV. That's a great pair with the EDC1.

What is the name of the site you mention?

I was thinking of putting a 519a + 3A driver in this.

The Lumens Factory 18650 old school body replica they sell I just got it today and it fits the Surefire 18650 rechargeables or at least my body does.

Akaricenter. They also did a run of EDCL1-T with an Osram.
On all the Surefire mods of theirs I've seen, they kept the stock driver.

The mods I mentioned are no longer available but you can find them with a search.

How's LF 18650 body go for length with the SF protected 18650, have you tested it with a head and tail on for fit and function?

I have a couple of the E1B-MV. The ergonomics are perfect for me, and its so tiny I don't notice it in my pocket. I'd take a slightly lower output for a bit more runtime though. The knurling is super aggressive and very grippy, which is good for you but bad for anything else in your pocket!

Oh wow, did not realize it had that powerful LED yet, tamed way down to only produce 400 lumens.

Thank you,
BigC
It's SureFire, so you're likely getting closer to 450 L. or maybe even a bit more.
