M3 with HOLA and 2 x 17500: This combination seems to work really well except it sometimes takes 2, 3 maybe 4 pushes to fire up the LA. I know this is to be expected but my question is: does this shorten lamp life or damage the cells?

The fact that you're double tapping means that you are exceeding the manufacturer's idea of a safe load on the cell. That's all I really need to know, personally. I know a lot of us do it, but doubt it's in the best interest of the cell, which seems to be the question.

I asked AW if it was safe to use two 17500 li-ion to power up the MN11. He replied this LA draws 2.5Amps, which is just over 2C and thus on the edge. No sharp "yes" or "no", it's just at the limit...

The MN10 draws 1.3Amps only, works great and safely with 2x17500. I think I'll stick with the longer runtime.

Thanks for all the feedback! I think I understand better now. Officially not recommended but works...(sort of)...I have tried the 2x17670 but the M3 felt awkward to me w/the extension...It did work well though. I'd rather not bore out the bod either cause I don't really have the tools or chops. I'll roll with the two 17500's for a while, just don't want to burn the house down or anything! :)

I've been running 2X17500 to power a M16 LA and I have to double or triple click to activate it at first. I've been using it for several weeks now and no problems whatsoever.

using a 1.1AH cell (17500) to power a 2.5A load is definitely a little over the recommended limit.. AWs cells are some of the best quality you'll find, so if used in reasonable increments, the chance of a thermal runaway situation should be relatively low. The important thing to keep in mind is that using a cell in this manner will break down it's internal barriers at a faster rate than normal... For your safety, please plan on replacing the cells earlier than you ordinarily would have- A good rule of thumb- when they deliver 80% of their original *new* capacity, you should replace them.
