I'm looking at pretty much the same thing so this will be useful for me too.:twothumbs
I've a thread running on mods and have been told that whereas a buck driver just drops the voltage, a "
boost-buck would allow running the LED at full power still after the battery voltage drops below that of the LED forward voltage."
Have you come across any buck-boost drivers? I'll have a hunt anyhow.
Are you definitely wanting dimmable?
Reason I question is that I'm looking for a 5-mode which for a bike light would give me a change in brightness depending upon whether I'm riding on-road or off-road.
I'm guessing from your login name through that dimmable is essential as you don't want to see flashes of changing light intensity whilst videoing. Also the 5-modes tend to cycle through so to go down a level you have to go up to the top, back to the bottom and back up to where you want to be???
Personally the two drivers I'm looking at are ...
http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=7947
This is based on cost but I'm not convinced of quality. They also do a non-5-mode for an SSC P7 ?!? For these I'd be interested to see if we can find someone who can tell us how to wire in a pot which I don't believe is too hard.
The other one is ... from http:/
/www.taskled.com/
They do a hipCC or a hipFlex and you can put a
d2flex dimmable board with this. On the website there is lots of technical information and some downloadable datasheets.
I'm watching with interest ...
