I'm thinking of making a couple LED flood lights for use at work, where we work in apartments doing general carpentry and drywall. Sometimes there is no power or some of the rooms have pitiful lighting.
We have piles of 18v DeWalt batteries (NiMH and Li-ion) laying around and it seems to me like I could easily direct drive two Bridgelux 402 in series (vf is 9.5v each).
No optics or reflector since I want this to be more of a flood.
Obviously I need to provide adequate heatsinking.

Any reason this wouldn't work?
