Drop Ins??

It's all new to me, I was told I can take a 5 year old Surefire 6P and make
it a contender. Please let me know how. Thank you as always for the info

Lots of good threads on this topic in here - do a search and you will be quickly overwhelmed. There are a wide variety of really nice high powered LED dropins for the 6p.

read this and then you'll be even more confused by the plethora of options. then you have to decide if you want throw, flood, runtime, rechargables, 123's or 18650's, etc etc...

yes, it's like updating, switching out parts. some can be as simple as taking out one light engine,
puting another one in. some can be taking apart sealed parts and soldering tiny parts and wires!

it's up to you, what you feel like trying/learning. upgrading and modding is like another stage/level of flash-a-holism! good luck
