Has anyone tried this laser? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7883

I think I got a defective one. After about 10 minutes of off and on use, the laser started flickering and getting dimmer, then went out completely. The battery is good, switch is good, optics are in place. Does this sound like a dead diode? How is DX at taking back defective items? This was my first purchase from them.

Thanks.

Hi joey79

DX are very good at replacing defective gear. Just e-mail them. depending on value, they may not even want you to send the defective one back.

Hey I just had this exact same problem with mine, they probably just sent you mine lol. Anyway, What you need to do is click the help button on the homepage and start a CS express ticket. Click the RMA button and then they will have you take pics of the laser and the package, ect.... pain in my a$$. anyway after you do that they will ask you to ship it to DX in Florida, which they will refund. afinally they ship you a new laser.

Yeah, I opened the CS express ticket, attached some pics and all that. Do they ship the laser from Hong Kong after they receive the defective one in Florida? If that's the case, I should have my replacement in about a month :shakehead

Yes unfortunately. However, and I don't want to change your mind, I decided to cancel my return when it was in processing because I didn't want to take the chance of having the same problem. I went with the romisen L-B030 , sku#10557 instead.:grin2:

That does look like a nicer laser. Have you received it yet? How does cancelling the return work, exactly? Do they just credit your money back, then you purchase whatever else you want?

No, unfortunately I haven't received mine yet but they just updated the stock so hopefully it will ship soon. Everyone that I know who has this laser likes it. I own a few other Romisen flashlights and the quality on them is great.

Originally I tried to get a refund instead of a return, but no matter how clear I was they didn't seem to understand and went through with the return process. So what I suggest that you do is let it go through with the return and when it shows up in your order status start a "cancel unshipped order" express ticket, then within about five days they will credit you back however you payed, paypal for me.

If you are wanting to switch and have the extra money, until you get your refund, you could go ahead and place your order now and get in line. This seems to be a pretty popular laser, plus you would get your laser much faster. Just my 2 cents.

Also, if you don't have batteries for it, I suggest rechargeable from DX because if you buy primaries from wal-mart they are expensive and run at 3v. The laser is rated at 3 to 4 volts so probably won't function well for long on primaries. I use the trustfire protected one SKU 8683 cause they are a little shorter than the ultrafire ones.

I think I will go with that Romisen laser instead. Am I right in assuming it's anodized aluminum? That would be much better than the painted brass body. Thanks alot for the info.

Yes 10557 is basically a black RC-F4.

With an RCR123 (Ultrafire 16340 3.6V) mine is quite nice.

I don't really have a USE for it mind you. But it's fun to play with!

I had it and KD 3304 out at Texas World Speedway and was given 30 bucks for KD 3304 instead of given it back!

But I sort of like 10557 better as it takes 123 instead of smaller and costly CR2.
