So. Cal
I figured this was the appropriate place to put this... Mods, please move if you feel otherwise! Thanks.

Since they were introduced, I've been a fan of the SF "Backup" lights.

Simple UI with a "high-low" toggle. With the KX2 heads it was even better because I normally use rechargeable cells and was reluctant to use them in the Backup. I also like the low setting coming on first before the high. Another great product is Don's 1xCR123 McClicky E-Series Pack. I've carried a Ti McClicky pack married to a KX2 for quite a while now and wanted something in all black anodize. Here are a few prototypes of a aluminum clickie pack I made up to fill that need. These are obviously not black anodized yet, but you get the idea! I made a few variants for fun and just haven't decided where to go from here. I eliminated the holes for the clip as I rarely use one and it just looks cleaner. For no reason other than cosmetics, the center section has a slight "swell" to the contour. The light ends up being slightly shorter than a stock Backup, and it will tail stand for when that's handy. The body accommodates the tried and true McClickie switch.

I'll add some pics when these proto's get anodized...

Thanks for looking... Comments appreciated. A run could be done if there is enough interest? If not, it was a fun project anyway :D

Some pics to enjoy...

Group shot... The black KL4 head is the shorter one.
Always wanted a "TW4" in all black!

Very Nice!!! You wouldn't be interested in selling these in the near future would you!!!

Again Very Nice work they'll look great when black as well.

These look great! I love the KX2 head on the McClicky Pak for the same reasons. This would also be perfect for the VME bezel with your favorite Malkoff drop-in.

I'm definitely in if you decide to sell these.

I'm sending the proto's to anodize this week... will post the pics when they come in.

Very cool, I would be interested if there is a run.

They sure look good. I would be in for 1 at least.

What about a CR2 version with a Keychain hole?

I been thinking of carrying my Vital Gear+Malkoff E-series attached to my keyes and the CR2 rounte would make it P60 compatible and more compact.

I would also be interested in 1-2.

I'm curious to see how the swell looks after ano. I don't really like it now but I think it will look good being all black. Either way, it's not a deal breaker for me.

WOW , awesome!! I actually like the swell, different and very ergo looking.

I would be in for one if the price was as reasonable as your bezel rings!!! How about an 18650 capable one??????
Definitley would want it tapped and threaded for a McGizmo clip but does anyone know where to source those clips these days?

Great work Richard!!
I would be honored to be the "MBT" for the E-seires packs

MBT = Midwest Beta Tester :devil:
I would like something a bit rough looking*** something knurled maybe

Are you thinking CR2 so it's just a tad bit shorter? That might be a good idea because the McClicky switch assembly makes these "battery packs" a bit longer than I would like. I don't have much experience with CR2's except in my SF Titan. Making some of these to fit the CR2 or RCR2 is easy though. Depending on interest, I will consider both. Runtime vs. size is the issue. A keychain hole would be good on the smaller body.

Rougher looking huh... maybe a machined pattern?

MBT... sure why not.

Id be down for one. I like the plain grooved one. Clean...
Ive had a few En Clicky's and loved each one. So flexible and so many options. My fav was the Aleph 1 head with a Dati P7 LE.
Any idea of final cost?
Id enjoy a McGizmo or similar clip.

All of the versions look great:twothumbs I think I'm partial to the first though. I cant wait to see them in black HA. I'm interested in one, but with finances the way they are I can't commit. I'll be watching for updates, and I'm sure with how nice these look they would sell pretty easily. Hopefully the timing will be right and I have some disposable income.

The swell in the body looks like it would compliment an Aleph3 head nicely. That would be a real pocket thrower.... I wonder what radiused grooves like on the A3 head would look like on the body:thinking:

Prototypes are back...

The finish is hard black anodize with a matte finish. They are more matte than the SF heads you see them on, but not too far off. Hopefully, the production run will be closer to the stock heads.

I decided to run about 50 pc of these bodies. The lathe work is done and they just need the mill cuts. I'll probably pick two or three of these designs and see how they sell. The first batch will be black anodize with a run of natural (O.D. green) after that. Enjoy.
