My 18650 body arrived, love the matte gray HA. According to Fivemega this batch has a harder HA producing the dull finish.

Haha, same day as my first order of parts from FM arrived... I went and ordered another thing from him! Gotta love the SS tailcap for my Mags and it'll be nice to have a compact E-series incan setup with reasonable battery life with the 18650 body. 🙂

let me get this straight... by buying 1 of these bodies i can change my battery option from, for example a cr123 to an 18760? i want to buy a SF E2DL but don't like the cr123 batteries. by using fivemega's bodywork i can use 18760 bats correct?

You can use one 18650 battery, two RCR123 batteries or two CR123 batteries with the E2/ 1x18650 body.

thank u. 18650's gives longer run time compared to a cr123? SF does not recommend rechargeables cr123 in their lights. just wondering if a recahargeable 18650 will do any damage to a E2DL?

An 18650 despite the higher capacity has the same output voltage as a RCR123 - approx 4.1v off the charger. The E2DL is designed to run on two primaries, or 6v, so an 18650 is providing less than the designed specs of the head. I run my E2L KX2 head on a single RCR123 cell in a one cell body, as well as a 17670 in a E2 body regularly with good results, although runtime is obviously limited with a single RCR123 but with a nice low level and topping off the cell I've never run out of power in that configuration. And 18650 will provide much longer runtimes and I have one of fivemegas bodies for just that purpose (I still need to get a button top 18650 as the two I currently have are flat tops and won't make contact with either my Milky modded KX2 or stock KX2 heads).

Do NOT however try to use two RCR123's as that will provide around 8.2v of output and your nice E2DL head will likely go A bad result.

Also the E2DL head won't run on a single CR123 either.

You could also send off your E2DL body to one of the modders to have it bored out to accept a 17670 cell which will do the same thing as the 18650 just with less runtime since fivemegas bodies aren't always available.
