Ok, trying to choose between these two lights for my first "real" torch!
Most important to me is throw/brightness. I don't care for a lot of spill or flood, just a more narrow concentrated beam.

I have reservations about the T20C2 as I haven't seen it mentioned as much as the T100C2 for throw, and also, in Selfbuilt's great review of the T20C2 (http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=239321) it looks ringy. However, here it looks just brighter with better throw in the "real world" than the T100C2 in outdoor pics (scroll down):

Is there a difference in the bulb used? The R2 instead of the Q4? CW compared to NW? Do rings even matter if you aren't wwh (white wall hunting...hey, my first flashaholic term!) but just using this outside (as it mainly will be)?

Price is not the determining factor, if the T20C2 is better it's worth it for me. Full regulation would be nice, but also not a deciding factor. I just want throw and lumens!

Thanks!

Main difference here is the runtime, brightness and regulation.

T100C2: has full regulation on 18650, longer runtime at max and medium mode.

T20C2: brighter, throws better and should be overall more resistant. Has a low mode.

I would recommend the T20C2. Looks better and comes with more accesories, unless you are a white wall hunter, cree rings and other visual artifacts wont affect the flashlight performance, as you said, you dont care much about the spill.

You can read both reviews at light-reviews.com

Thanks for the info. I wonder where I got the idea the T100C2 was the better thrower?

I guess the T20C2 with CW is brighter than with NW?

T100C2 uses smaller XP-E led. It cannot be driven as hard as the XR-E, even if it produce a more narrow beam, cannot throw as far as the T20C2.

Cool white tints gets a bit more output than warm tints. If you are not into the warm tint fashion, get cool white instead.

I got ya. I was asking if the differences between the CW and NW on the T20C2 made a significant difference though in terms of smoothness/rings/throw (like on that chart above), not the bulb difference between both lights. But that helps!

I don't care about warm tint; I'd actually prefer a more "clinical" white that would illuminate "better" or more clearly.

Decisions, decisions.

I just got the P20C2 and I'm loving it. From what I hear T20C2 will outthrow it but I think they share the same emitter some other internals.

Congrats!

I looked at that too, but prefer something a little bigger.

According to that chart above the CW version puts out 300 Lumens like the CW version of the T20C2.

I know that Lumens alone does not determine brightness, but I bet that's a bright small/mid sized guy!

Yeah, it's really small. After I got it I wondered if I was going to find it to be TOO small but so far so good and I can even carry it in a pocket occasionally - which was not part of my original intentions for this light.

I think the T20C2 is a good size for nonEDC though jus from pics and specs.

Yea, I don't care about fitting it in a pocket, although I bet I could fit a 6" tube in a few of my pants pockets and certainly jacket pockets.

I just want a light for power right now (but not a HUGE light) and later I might get into key ring type lights or pocket pals.

I'm leaning towards the T20C2, I just wish it wasn't so ringy! :( Regulated and no strobe function would be nice too!

I'm with you on the strobe for sure. I wish I could deactivate strobe completely on my P20C2. It's kind of annoying.

brad

I guess no one has found a way to deactivate it? Is that possible? To bypass the chip? It does seem really annoying to have to cycle through it all the time.

YOu don't actually cycle through it. It's just once you turn the light off you have to wait several seconds if you want to turn it on again without strobing.

brad

Ohhh...well that's not so bad! Hope the others are the same way!

I just double click it real quick...
ie. if it strobes immediately click it again and it stops strobing - it takes some practice/good timing though.

I decided on the T20C2, with CW emitter, thanks everyone!

^ jealous

Pssshhh, why? Your P20C2 is about the same in throw and brightness from what I read, and more portable! I just preferred something a little bigger for my needs, and I love the way the T20C2 looks.

Btw, thanks to the very helpful Tod who I purchased the T20C2 from for a great price! http://www.illuminationgear.com/

And thanks to all who helped in this thread! :twothumbs

EagleTac just made things complicated.
Neutral-white is available in all the '100' series.
and an OP reflector is available in the T100C2 mkII

I think I will pass on the new '20' series until they get low mode memorization, and only have strobe when the head is in turbo mode. (so you can flash morse code on general mode)

Because then I could mount it on my AR-15. :D Now that I've gotten my first Eagletac I'm really wanting to replace the SF G2 that I currently have mounted.

Ahh...ok! :grin2:

Wait...an EagleTac to replace a SF?! Surely you jest! :D
