I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention... there is a user on eBay selling **8** Titans (all starting at $.99) which is an obvious scam if you dig further. The user's listings can be viewed here: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZjl_mugen

Whoever has stolen this person's account also stole the images used in the listings from the following auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280208657860

You can easily tell they are the same images (look at the reflection of the Titanium batteries in the plastic wrap).

Anyhow, bidders beware!!

Aside from the photos, what else indicates that this is a scam? Paypal says that buyers will be protected up to $2000.

Did you report it to the darkZero?

I sent a mesage to the original picture guy since ebay rules say only he can report it.

On the other hand the sellers may be related and sharing pics.

from ebay: Note: You must own the rights to the text or images you are reporting for unauthorized use.

Other things indicating a scam is the exact same text and layout as darkZero's original listing.

Also, just because Paypal says the Buyer is protected upto $2,000 have you ever actually tried to collect on that protection? This is Paypal, you're never "truly" protected. Those protection policies are pretty much useless.

Thanks for the heads up. I agree that stealing someone's complete layout and photos is bad form. And, yes, I have dealt with Paypal - not fun!

paypal protection = wet tissue paper :scowl:

Thats not exactly true, I just got a complete refund from Paypal of funds paid to a an Ebay seller for a watch they never sent. It took several months for the entire thing to get completed, a month of my unanswered correspondence to the seller and a month for the PayPal dispute resolution.
.
I have to say I was very pleased with their handling of the situation. I even used part of the refund to buy an Inova T1 from Battery station

I have to agree with you on this. PayPal insurance helped me several times with items bought on eBay. The buyer's protection works quite well, but the seller's protection is a different thing.
It takes some time, but you will get your money back.
Sorry for OT.

I don't know about you guys, but I refuse to have money tied up for months on end thanks to eBay not removing the listings posted under a stolen account. That's the point at hand here, not when and if Paypal will refund your money. All the listings are obviously fruadulent.

No doubt. I was just saying that just in case someone would buy it by mistake ((not knowing it's a scam), he might see his money again with a bit of luck and PayPal insurance. eBay should pull off his auctions off the site.

Aparently he lives very very close to me, but after looking at mapbid.com I think he is really a scammer, notice how many places he posted the auction from, Buyer beware!!!

Alex,

I don't get what you're showing. I just looked at each listing and they all say Sugarland, TX. How would a seller list different locations anyway? Isn't the location where the seller is registered?

How did you come up with those locations on the map? Do you have a list of addresses?

Notice the accounts of the bidders! Fishy!

Okay, now it's starting to sound like a witch hunt. The way the bidders are listed are the same as on every eBay listing.

The way you look for the location is you type the exact title of the auction, then select a zip code that is very close to that address (Try 77057) and the map shows you the aparent location of each item, then zoom in to see the street and even the house.

Okay, I typed in the exact title and checked "Items within 100 miles of 77057" and it showed all eight listings and that each was 15 miles away. I couldn't figure out how to get a map, though.

The nature of the thread, the selective targeting of an individual not involved with us, attempting to post identifying locations and such, places us in a position too closely related to stalking. While it may not be your intent, it's becoming more difficult to see the difference. You'll need to find another means of continuing. Thread closed.
