Maybe they know they will be competing with Walmart. I bought Eneloops a few weeks ago from Amazon for 24.99. I went to every store around looking for hybrids, kmart, walmart, circut city and finally used amazon

Meh... ticks me off sometimes living in Washington State and having to pay sales tax at Amazon and REI. Maybe someday I'll get to move back to Oregon.

If it's sold "by Amazon" then it's free shipping as rcnuk mentioned. Sometimes when Amazon sells out of their supply they will offer it at the same price from a third party vendor, and that third party does charge for shipping. The key is to get it when it's "sold by Amazon".

vhyper, I tried it too and no free shipping for me either. Looks like Amazon is out of stock and selling through a third party until they get more back into their stock.

Good caution there. I got my order in early enough; the page now says they're shipping from someone else and doesn't offer the free shipping.

They do appear to be willing to try to find me used batteries if I want to buy some .... heh.

Well my 8 pack came in mail today - and guess what - it was opened. The plastic battery packing was cut, oh well. Amazon should not be sending out returned battery packs.

Shipping them back and getting a brand new pack - hopefully.
