At the moment it's a black Surefire L1 that McGizmo modded to use 2x123/PR-T black/BB750/X4T. I like the 5 watt because of the large hot spot and lots of spill.
Before you guys bombard Don for a X bin mod, I should tell you that I supplied the Luxeon and it was the only one I had.
The L1/2x123/Lux3"T"/DB917 is great too and the parts are available.

overall Ultra-G - because of beam coverage and quality, build-quality - form-factor, and use of a single AA.
BUT I EDC the Dorcy 1AAA (1LED) just because of the tail-switch, reasonable build-quality, good beam coverage and acceptable beam quality - low replacement cost, and surprisingly its size - despite the fact it is much bigger than necessary for a single AAA light - the size actually is comfortable in use in the hand, and carrying in the pocket for location and extraction (eg: the ArcAAA - a very nice light - is too small for that - for me) - even the rubber inserts are nicely placed for activation of the tail-switch with the thumb.
Most used - Photon Yellow - started with a Mk.1 as my only EDC for years and eventually replaced by a Mk.2 which I had waiting for the Mk.1 to "die" for over 6 years.......(and the Mk.1 didn't!) Yellow LEDs use very low power so the advertised battery life is 120 hours! - I and some people seem to see "better" under dim yellow - in terms of contrast and definition - so it's good for looking at details or at a pinch even outdoors walking where contrast in the path is all important. But obviously it's not as good as a white for color rendition.
Fav EDC, arc aaa. Fav pocket light, most likely will be a mag2aa sandwich yet to be built. Fav big lights yet to be built, 2dmag luxIII, 3d mag tri-lens.
Favorite LED right now, Lumileds LuxIII. Unless you give me a nice X bin LuxV that is...
Mine is a pair of ledlenser v2 turbo 1 watters driven hard at 700ma with 3 fully charged rad shack n cells each to power them with.
I take these with me to the nightclubs on weekends.
They have enough power to cut through the disco lighting to find someones glasses that fell to the floor through the other people on the dance floor.
They also have enough lumens and candlepower to shine back at those (censored by 3rd_shift) fools with thier blinding laser pointers to get them to cut it out.
The real fun is when I have a 2 beer buzz with those lights right before everyone else gets there, so that I can shine them at the mirror balls at will and have a blast with the music! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif
For the rest of the week at work, it's my Trilight3 white running on 8500mah nimh d cells. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Lambda Turbo Nano Mate, happily on my keychain with a makeshift lens protector... my favorite because it's always with me and it's bright and white and uses N cells, small, luxeon... drooling.
Arc LS modded with 3 watt running at 650 mah using TSP-2AA pack. Excellent light for general use.
Elektrolumens FT-3C ... great beam in this powerful yet compact 3 C cell light.
Arc-AAA PE for EDC.
SureFire L4 for bright white non-EDC (only occasional carry).
Positron Laser (5W cyan LS mod) for a larger flashlight.
TriLight III for a really large flashlight.
