I have a few of the $1.50 2AA ones EVB2AALED-B I bought them for two reasons.
1. so that I would have some lights to put the rechargeable duracells I bought, and,
2. to have lights to give away.
They have a crappy little beam, but are fine to tail-stand and give some light into a room (more than a candle) and they get decent run-times.
One of my car lights is a 2AA indestructible. I somewhat often recommend it, with a caveat. It is a thrower, which makes it not the best choice as a general around the house light. But at $14, as rugged as it is, it is certainly a good light.
I gave my son a 3 AAA indestructible, and he really likes it. It is also a bit of a thrower, so again, not an ideal "general purpose light" but it does have a high and low.
I also gave my son a 3 C indestructible. It wasn't a particularly generous gift. The beam is too tight, and doesn't throw enough lumens at a target to justify the weight of the light. It has a high and low, and can take a beating. I have never recommended it.
I think that the Virtually Indestructible LED 4C Beam Lantern is a decent thrower.
