What's up folks,

I EDC a Fenix LOD Q4, that I am REALLY happy with. So much so that I recently decommissioned my Petzl Tikka headlamp, stole the band from it and just use my LOD stuck in the band for my headlamp. My question is...........has anybody come up with a good way to use a single AAA sized light as a headlamp while still leaving it free to use as a torch? The way I have it now it is stuck off to one side of my head and while it works really well for what it is, I have to constantly adjust it for different distances etc.. I'm trying to come up with some sort of mount that will allow me to have the LOD in the center but still be somewhat easy to remove.

Thanks in advance for any and all ideas!

EDIT: just occured to me that this might not be the right forum for this...........I apologize :sssh:

I use my LOD in that dual-role also. I keep the clip attached to it in a bezel-up carry setup. This way, I can have it clipped in my pocket, or clip it to the front of my hat for a headlamp.

i do the same thing, works fine for me

Does the clip scratch the heck out of the finish?

If attached bezel down, no. If attached bezel up, it can. But who carries a light to keep it looking pristine? If it adds significantly to it's usefulness (and it does), I'll put up with a few minor scratches.

Agreed, lights that are carried, and used, will get character marks. No velvet bag for this light here.

I asked because my new olive LOD Q4 has "spider-webbing" in the anodize, and was not too excited to hasten the flaking off aspect of a 3 day old light...

Hello Cv3po,

You are correct. This would be better off in the headlamp section. I will move it there.

I have used the StreamLight Microstream as a headlamp by taking an elastic headband with a buckle and threading a couple of "O" rings on it. Pop the light in the "O" rings to use it as a headlamp and pull the light out of the "O" rings for hand use.

Another option would be to see if the ZebraLight holder would fit your light.

Tom

Whats the best method to attach the clip to an AAA Fenix?

Push it on with brute force?

Any tool that helps?

It's easier to open it up a bit with a flat screwdriver, then get it started sliding onto the end. Once started, it will slide relatively easily to where you want it.

You might look for posts by half-watt also. He likes to use Fenix lights as headlamps by mounting them in Nite-Ize (or Jakstrap?) headbands IIRC.
