I was meaning to do this mod for ages, but I was hessidant cos my flashlight was full of hard epoxy covering the wires too.

I started with this.

and with a lot of breakign and scratching and nerve got to this

and then i epoxied the new LED, and made new sleeves for the wires.

But the reflector sits a bit higher than it should. i must be missing lumens, but considering the pecularity i will settle for the final 95 ones.:crackup:

Nice mod. Looked like a bear to do!

I have broken down old harden epoxy & Norland using a stainless dental pick. I use a torch to heat the pick, and get it red hot. Then basically poke and melt. Its slow, stinks but works very well.

Ask your dentist for old tools. Great for projects like this.

Thanks for the tip....

I scracthed as much as I could, and i know of the sue of heat for epoxies, but in this case it was all about saving the wires.
My heart was thumbing when workign witht he stripped wires, cos they should NOt break.
