I just can't get the point: where the AAA-lights made by Fenix are just 1.4cm thick (diameter), the lights that take one AA battery seem to be the same in diameter as the ones to take CR123As??
Is this a fault on the website (this info comes from fenix-store.com) or is it really true?
IF it's true, I just don't get the point of buying a flashlight that is:
1. a fair bit longer,
2. just a thick,
3. less bright

than a P1D....

Apart from the fact it uses just one AA, these are really available worldwide, this may not be the case with CR123As...

You just perfectly described a lot of people I know :D :sssh:

Back on topic though, does it mean there is battery rattle or anything? Maybe they just use it to make the manufacturing process cheaper?

The inside diameter is smaller with the AA models, making the walls much thicker than on the CR123 versions. No battery rattle with any of my Fenix lights...and I have a P2D CE, a P3D Q5, an L1D Q5 (with an extra P2D body and tailcap), an L0D Q4 and an LD01 Q5.

Dang... Am I the only one getting rattle on my Fenix? Mine's a LD10 using a Uniross Hybrio. It also rattles on Energizer alkalines and Energizer 2500mAH batteries.

Oh btw, the rattle is not bad, just irritating. And I expect it not to rattle, being an AA light.

Maybe you should use a Varta 5706 2700mAh. These ones are SOOO fat, they simply just don't fit certain battery-compartiments.... like the older Mags AA!

Thanks everyone! Exactly this came to my mind: now I know the walls are much thicker, otherwise it would be TOO bad (and I know, Fenix isn't bad at all, it may not be high-end but it's just not bad! The two I own just work very well indeed (LD 01 Q5 and P1D Q5) ).
