I recieved my fenix Ld10 today and am VERY impressed with it. It is brighter than the Sure fire E2Defender that I currently carry on duty. I am now looking for a new duty flash light. I would prefer something that can run on standard alkaline batteries or lithium(If lithium will give me a much brighter light). I want to wear it on my duty belkt and dont want to go larger than my current E2D if I can help it. Would also like to have functional strike bezzels. Is the Fenix TA21 as durable as a surefire? Will the strike bezzels work as well?

Look on the Marketplace here for people selling the E2DL bezel. They're going really cheap, lately. That's all you need to convert your E2D to a E2DL. It will have better runtime, constant brightness, and well over double the output.

The E2DL bezel would work, but it will still need to run on CR123s. The TA21 also works with CR123s. CR123s are lithium batteries by default, there are no alkaline versions that I know of.

As for durability, it should work quite well in normal conditions, but if you purposely abuse you lights, then even a Surefire will have a higher chance of breaking. As for the strike bezel, I'd depend more on my own defense know-how then the bezel.

Good Lord, here we go with the BS again.

The internet must have given you a bigger set of balls than you really have.

That or you are just trying really hard to be Marduke

is the bezzel the only difference between the orginal E2D and the new one? Will it be less reliable if I carry an old base with new bezzel than a totally new factory light?

Can I get a better all around light then the Fenix TA30? Where can I get a heavy duty belt style case?

There should be no problems running a E2DL bezel on your E2D body, they are the same body apart from the the writing :D

I have a TA30 as well as a E2DL and the SF blows away the Fenix, both are throwy lights but the Fenix has virtually no useable spill.

Are you sure you want a strike bezel?

I have ground off the teeth on both of mine.

I am also a LEO and although different rules apply in different countries/places I would imagine you could get into all sorts of trouble with your department/being sued by an offender etc is you used the bezel on someone?

I have seen many posts by US based LEO's that have said the same sort of thing?

Where could I get the E2DL 200 lumen bezel? Would it have the same run times as the entire new light? I currently have the old 60 lumen incandesent E2D.

Alfred: Both the Surefire E2D-L (200 Lumen Version) and the Fenix TA-21 AND the TA-20 are excellent lights, although if you're an LEO, you should have plenty of other alternatives in taking a perp down then your strike bezel.

With regards to getting the Surefire 200 Lumen version head, contact Surefire and find out if you can purchase that separately from the whole light. I checked on www.surefire.com and did not see that as an optional LED Conversion Head for purchase but the site could be out of date. Although to be totally honest, with the price of their LED Heads, it might be better just to buy the whole light rather than just the head. And yes, being that the head is the brains of the whole matter, run-times should be the same as the whole light, that is again if you can purchase the Head separately.

What is your Dept policy regarding impact weapons?

IMO, "strike bezels" are a fad add-on that serve no real purpose, and should not be your sole reason for using a particular light.

Strike bezels look cool, but as far as functionality goes, If i hammer fist you in the skull with any solid handheld flashlight, you'll know you got hit.
