Fenix TK10 a Good Choice?

I love my TK10. I hate carrying it. I only take it out on investigations, otherwise it stays on nightstand duty. My Main EDC light for the past 2 years has been a Fenix L2D...probably the most versatile AA flashlight I have ever seen.

If you get the TK10, take whats left of that $100 and get him some AW RCR123sfor it. After it chewed through some primaries really quick I got the rechargables, and have been very happy with it.

hey, I agree that the Fenix T1 is also good! Can't beat that steel bezel.

I would stick with the TK10 over the T1. That steel bezel on the T1 IMO makes the T1 feel unbalanced and front heavy. You should be aware, however, that even the TK10 is a heavy light for its size. Its quite a chunk of aluminum and not a light your father will want to carry around regularly, unless he wants to use the nice sheath that comes with it. Most people would agree that the clip for it is all but useless. Still the TK10 feels solid, and well balanced in the hand.

ONLY, if you think weight and portability would be a deal breaker for the TK10, should you consider the P3D. If weight is not an issue, the TK10 is a much more impressive gift. (The black finish is my preference.) Not only is it a beautiful light to behold and hold, it has a beautiful beam with a smooth transition from hot spot to spill and no artificacts. I don't own the p3d , yet I hear reports that its beam is not quite as nice nor is its spill area is as wide as on the TK10. I do own the TK10. While I do use it on occasion and have no regrets about buying it, mine also stays at home most of the time. For my rare camping excursions, however, it is my light of choice. My EDC is an NDI with a LOD Q4 on my keychain.

If he likes the Scorpoin, the TK-10 will be just about perfect.

I had a scorpion and loved it, and wanted pretty much the same thing but LED and brighter.

I got a TK10 and it was exactly that.

I was previously considering the P3D(and will probably be getting one for myself soon:twothumbs) but after finding the TK10 I figured he'd probably be happier with a light with less modes. Plus, the TK10 appears much more durable, which is very good for him.

TK10 sits on my nightstand next to the Sig....on low cause High blinds me if i shine it at a wall at night :twothumbs
P3D in my BOB and truck. Good utility lights. I could do without Strobe/SOS, but they're not that annoying.

Suggestion, Order both and get a couple E01s free.... CPF mantra: buy once, cry once :broke:

The TK10 is fantastic. Just make sure you clean and well lube the bezel threads.

The P3D is in a different class than the Scorpion. The Scorpion is a traditional tac light, where you can flash the light with a soft press, while the P3D is more of a task light, and needs to be clicked on first. The extra modes take some getting used to as well, but are much more flexible.

The P3D is a great light, but the Tk10 is more of a Scorpion replacement, as others have said.

wonder if he got it yet ,curious on his impressions:naughty:
