Bought it new sometime in the mid to late nineties and it finally became dead again for the last time. I say last time because I'm trying to consolidate my carry personal electronics to use the same types of batteries for simplicity's sake. Today I ordered a Nitecore D10 SP and the accessory red filter and diffuser from one of this sites sponsors thanks to reviews from members here and the technical data found on the manufacturer and retailer website.

Don't have the light yet but regardless thanks for taking the time to offer up reviews and personal experiences with the products. Being able to read them certainly helped me finalize my decision.

Best wishes,

Welcome to CPF, Palehorse1 :)

I'll move your thread to the General Flashlight Discussion section. I'm sure members would be very interested to hear more about your old Surefire...

Old Surefire's never die, they just walk off into the sunset. :candle: Surefire may be able to help and with some of the technical people around here, I am sure that there could be a few more sunsets left in that old torch of yours.:welcome:

:welcome:

If you don't want to invest the time and/or money into breathing new life into your old Surefire, then please do it and yourself a favor and put it for sale in the CPF Marketplace. Other people here will revive it so it can continue to light up for an owner that will really appreciate it. Surefires always seem to sell well, no matter what condition they are in.

how do you kill a surefire? get it run over by heavy machinery? the bulb can burn out but that's not a dead surefire...

"Old Surefire" is better for sure it will be "a user" and you will not have to worry about scratching it. Surefires can never be killed they are immortal at least here on CPF. Post photos. Is it a non-hex head OG 6P? If its the bulb I got a P60 for you I'll kick you down with as a welcome gift send me your address. If its the Z44 tailcap which went bad get a McClicky from ElectronGuru.

I can say that it really took a beating and that Surefire makes a good product. This one spent time hanging off of a M-4, a SAW, and bouncing off of, and around in all sorts of places. With the suggestions to sell offered I have to say that a friend has it now and will certainly do his best to keep it in service.

For me, my battery chargers all support AA, and AAA batteries and having access to about fifty rechargable batteries in each of those sizes it just makes good sense to use what I already have available. My light requirements have changed as well which is nice as now I can use my experiences to help me find the best overall solution for my everyday carry. Regardless, thanks for the site. I originally posted this in the off topic section since I couldn't find the "introduce yourself" section.

Best wishes,

...well it sounds like you really put it to work...good that your buddy can get some mileage out of it now...nothing wrong with trying some of the newer stuff out there...

i still got my old 6p (and it looks like it)...with a new lens and an led, it's still my first-to-grab flashlight...

:welcome:

man, i came into this thread expecting (hoping) to read a story about how a SF got killed in action or something :(

anyway, good call on the D10, you may wish to take a look at the Fenix TK20, 2xAA, 2 level tough as nails light.

:welcome: You may also want to try a 2xAA Solarforce host with a Nailbender Low Voltage XPG drop in. If you need help with that then you can PM me.

You don't see many "Finally killed my U***fire light" - normally you see comments like "I only dropped it 1 foot into a bucket of rose petals & it's stuffed":thumbsdow

I love seeing beat up Surefires still functioning as their maker intended!!

James.....
