It is not the trow monster, but in my opiinion it is the best beam for LED's available today, in terms of trow and sidebeam ;)

So Its More Floody than throw? Can It outhrow a Surefire L6? If It Can I Will like :) .
Just search the forum for "HD45". You will find many folks who have done a great job with beamshots to compare the HD45 to several other lights. This one is one of those good posts ;)

I am also making a custom M*g light designed around this reflector and have some beamshots available here as well ;)

Thanks Bernie!! Great Shots By The Way! The HD45 Looks like it Can Outhrow the L6!!

Wquiles Looking Good. That Mag looks Awesome and Cant Wait!

The HD45 Looks Like It Can Throw!! The Lux III Looks like it can throw better but the overall output doesnt look lower. Is Lux III Compared to the Lux V Really A big Difference in terms of Throw and Output

I just received the LuxV W-bin in the picture above and I love it! I like a more floody beam. To me it's more usefull than a extremely tight hot spot. I think you will be very well pleased with yours.

The LuxV puts out more light, but has less throw. It has a broader area coverage. Keep in mind that my LuxIII is a Joker in a non-Joker reflector (it is of those days when the Joker issue was all new) ... and isn't as tight as a focussed LuxIII .... it is in-between.

Now for a direct comparo in the pics above ... look at:
- the brightness of the bush at the left
- the are coverage of the tree tops above the hotspot
- the brightness of the spot.
Upon close inspection you will see that the LuxV covers a slightly bogger area with slightly less lux in the spot and has a slightly brighter spill (pending tint).

In the end, it is a relatively close call with this light (Joker!), which is why I sold one of them. Had my choice been between a non-Joker LuxIII and a LuxV it would have been the LuxV. The Joker is in-between.

Re: Finally... I GOT IT!

This Is me :) :) :) :) :) :). Just Got my HD45 In the Mail and All I can Say Is Wow that is a HUGE Reflector and that this light Is Awesome. It is alot smaller than i thought it will be, it has a wonderfull tint and looks awesome and feels like a tank. I Love looking at the reflector and seeing how deep it is. Its still sort of daylight but this light has a Great Hotspot and some good spill. Finally got the Light that i was trying to get all these weeks. Wow I really do love this light and guranteed im never going to sell it or trade it and its only been a couple of mintues. This Light also looks pretty sexy :grin2: . Wow and WOW!!

Just got my Lux V today too! I have had the III since they came out and let my Dad "have" it because he just loved it so much. I finally got around to getting theV since I am a big fan of the flood beam and it is terrific.

A great light for sure!
Enjoy!

Well Just tried It right now and must say, Its BRIGHT! This HD45 Really has an award winning Tint and another thing No "Cheerio". It really does outhrow my L6 and any other light I had or have except my HID. Great light just one complain...when I twist the head it feels like somthing is grinding and feels like sand is on the threads. I wish it really was silky smooth twisting action. Overall WONDERFULL light.

I just bought one from the shoppe tonight. I got the 5w WW0T. My wife is gonna kill me, that makes a new 27LT, PD, and HD45 in one week. Well at least I'll die happy, hahaha. I can't wait until these three lights get here ! You guys are making the wait even harder...

skalomax ... teh light needs to be broken in a bit. Th egrinding you are experiencing is most likely kilroy digging his path in the wall of the tube ... it will stop after some usage.

I Understand.

whats funny Is this light seems brighter than all my previous surefire Flashlights (L6,U2,L4). It does perform better than all my lights except the HID. Did i get an Over acheiver? Bounce test proves that the HD45 Is Brighter than my L4 :) . Wow this light is really something!!!
