So I have my U2 setup for 18650's got 5 AW uprotected 18650's with 2200mAh capacity, got a Leef body, polished the rear contact, got an SW01 twisty tailcap, seemed to work fine till today.

Well today I had my U2 soaking in a warm bath, cleaning it up before I polish the glass window, for kicks I leave the light on in the water bath.

Get back and the light is off, I think the worst so I dry it off, take it apart, but there isn't a drop of water in it, I figure maybe the tailcap isn't making good contact, but it all checks out, no matter what I do the U2 flashes a couple of times then dies, no low voltage warning low power only, no power, not even a dull glow. It works fine on CR123's but in less than a minute (any power level) the U2 flickers out and dies.

edit: I have tested both tailcaps new and old.

Anyone ever had this happen? Tried the old tailcap and it does the same. Tested other batteries, all batteries tested above 4.1 volts, and the discharge test showed over 1500mAh were left on the original 18650 I was using.

This is really bugging me.

ok. use a paper clip or something to make contact between the tube and the batt. If it still doesn't work, then we can infer that it is not the fault of the tailcap. If it still doesn't work, pull out the spring on the head a wee bit.

Looks like it time to send her back to Surefire.

Giving your lights baths.....Hmmm :)

Right now I am testing the light with the battery in a charging clamp with leads going to the U2 head.

Edit, even with all possible sources of poor contact eliminated it still flashes and dies. I contacted PK last night, hopefully he can help me out.

Contacted PK? Why not regular Customer Service? I'm sure PK has enough on his plate :)

Exactly, this is the absolute worst time of year to contact PK with SHOT Show only 648 hours away!

I wouldn't expect pk to deal with any repair this close to the show, and certainly not one that could be dealt with by "regular Customer Service"
