Ive read this tutorial

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=238641

And it was very useful. But i have a 5C Maglite, not a 3D. But difference in voltage. So I was told I would need a driver, or circuit board. Now that would be a completely different build setup.

Are any of these parts good to use?
Driver:

p7 bulb:

and this heatsink:

wouldn't all this work?

Can somebody give me actual schematics and a list of things to buy? I really want this mag ready by mid March...

THANKS

Smurf, really you would be better off getting all that you can here in the USA. That is where you are right? I am NOT at all trying to bash overseas vendors, I have ordered from them, and I will again in the future.

It is just that somethings go smoother when you can actually pick the phone and be like "YO dude, where my order at?" after a week or so.

I do recommend BriteLumens as I have ordered my heatsinks from him and I got them from Singapore in a week and 2 days flat.:twothumbs

Also this is a "custom mod". It is not reasonable to expect everything from one place.

To do my mod (and the ones I have planned) I ordered from:

  1. Newegg.com
  2. Tek-tite.com
  3. Britelumens
  4. flashlightking.com (thanks ti-force)
  5. Glowinc.com
  6. Bulkwire.com
  7. Radio Shack (walk-in)
  8. Sandwichshop
  9. Shiningbeam
This is a expensive hobby, but still NOT as expensive as Hot-Rodding a car, or spending time at a strip club.........:p
lol, I tried my best to make my whole purchase at DX, guess thats not going to happen....

OK, I guess you have converted me to spend more money. I'll buy all the materials required right now if you give me links to everything.

Im not being lazy, I just don't want to buy the wrong things (again)

I have done several Mag P7 mods and this is what I recommend,

Britelumens P7 Heatsink

DSVNI P7 from PhotonFanatic nice warm tint

hipCC driver from Task Led

22 guage teflon wire

UCL lens

Aluminum MOP reflector

Use Arctic Alumina adhesive (to glue P7 to heatsink) also available from PhotonFanatic and Arctic Alumina Ceramique (between heatsink and Maglite body) available from Radio Shack.

There are other options for a driver but the hipCC is a good one. OR....you could just spend the money on a 3D host and not use any driver and do a direct drive build which is what I prefer. EASY to do and reliable.

i agree with 737mech.

do you really need the extra runtime by building it into a 5c?

i built several 3D direct drive P7s and they are super easy and reliable.

the 5 cell i would save for something more fun, like a triple p7 or SST mod...

You'll be very lucky if you get all your parts from DX!!
I waited FOUR months for some parts from them, sent countless emails and got one reply with a load of BS about how sorry they were (not as sorry as I was for giveing them my money :sigh:)
To this day I still have'nt recieved all my parts :mad:
DX SERVICE IS A LOAD OF:knight:!!!!

Wow that is bad. I knew they take a lot of time, but not that much.

You can get your P7 from CPFMP for $14 shipped, and you'll have it within a week:

P7

You can get your thermal epoxy from your local electronics store (will probably cost about $10)

You can get your heatsink from H22A, or Britelumens, like someone previously mentioned.

If only you were using a 4-cell light.... If you were using a 4-cell, you could use a ShiningBeam driver, and have it within a week.
