Hi All,

Just found these forums recently and after spending a few weeks reading everything I could, I have jumped in and ordered a Malkoff M60 for a SF 6P I got recently (specifically to mod  ). Just have to wait for shipping to Aus now.

Starting to build a collection already, Surefire, NiteCore, Fenix... Just need to get my head around incan's:duh2: and mod my 4D mag.

Cheers,
Nova

Congrats on your new 6P and your soon-to-arrive M60. This is the basic P60 aftermarket set-up that most flashaholics have in their collection. I'm sure you'll love the throw on the Malkoff

Congratulations on your purchase of these two items. The Surefire 6P is a fine light in its stock form but is transformed by the addition of the Malkoff M60 LED module. The Malkoff is (IMHO) the best drop-in available and exudes quality. Whilst technology is rapidly advancing and many manufacturers are making good drop-ins few (if any) are able to match the standard that Gene Malkoff has achieved.

May I suggest that you consider a beam diffuser to add to your purchase in the future? The Surefire FM34 will give you the ability to use the Malkoff to become a fantastic area light that will illuminate a large area incredibly well and gives you a lot of options in use.

Welcome to the forum!

I, too, am a long time lurker and recent poster who also found the goodness known as Malkoff. I bought an M60L originally and fell in love with it; I now have an M60 which rides in a Surefire M2, and the M60L is best friends with my G2. Talk about an amazing light. You will not be disappointed. In fact, owning multiple Malkoff Devices tends to be the trend.

The M60 + 6p are truly an unbeatable combo. Let us know how you like it once it arrives.

Welcome to CPF Nova. How much was the shipping for the Malkoff to Aus?
International shipping (except Canada) is $30. Not cheap, but then I want eveything to arrive in one piece.

Thanks for the other suggestions guys, I'm sure there will be more torches coming my way in the future (this site is bad:broke:).

Thanks for that, looks like I save up my pennies and get a M60 and a M60F at the same time to spread the costs (assuming that they are in stock).

In this newspeak, that means good, right? Or am I supposed to say wrong? I don't know all these new fangled words, I think I'll just go play in the dark with a light. Oooh, bright & shiney :)

Welcome to CPF... Another Aussie =D

Postage to Aus is worth it... They send in large box with lots of padding via express insured post with tracking number...

The box mine came in was about the size of a ream of A4 paper for a dropin the size of a cotton spool... lol

Excellent service from Gene and Cathy as well...

Worth it... (just my $.02 FWIW)

:welcome:

Being new here, you may not be aware that putting a Malkoff M60 into a 6P isn't really a "mod".

It's more along the lines of just finishing what Surefire forgot to do.

So true. What you may think is bright now will go quickly when you read about some of the more involved mods on this forum. Try a mag85 or perhaps a 623. :twothumbs Anyway, glad to hear you bought one of {if not} the best.

Cheers.

Nova,

Same here. My first drop-in was an M60 atop a C2. Comparing to a factory Surefire 6PLED, the M60 certainly packs a lot more throw and intensity. Don't get me wrong, the OEM P60L lamp is really very useful for most of my general uses, but the lumens differences are visually distinguishable. One of the best ways to compare lights is to shine both side-by-side onto a white wall or the ceiling. The M60 renders a brighter center hot spot and the spill than the P60L lamp.

Good luck to your Mag conversion. I also picked up a Malkoff drop-in for my trusty Mag 3D on my first order. It's probably designed to put out more sweep than throw, or comparable to a wide-angle lenses equivalent in photography. Gene Malkoff also offers a triple LED drop-in for the Maglites.

With Aloha,

Clarence

Means that I keep finding more cool lights here that I don't really need but keep wanting to buy.

I did wonder if a drop-in counted as a real mod.

Well the M60 arrived (7 days from ordering it arrived in the mail, brilliant), it is in the 6P, wow, very, very nice. I am impressed, nice beam and very bright.:candle:

Maybe a slightly bigger reflector would be nice though...:poke:

Overall, awesome.
