The FR1000a 2x18650 :D
this light is wicked. not sure if Peak has both HA and Bare heatsinks,
but the silver band looks pretty cool as it complements the knob.
I'm going to polish the bare aluminum parts.
i'll try to post beamshots..but my camera is a cheap p.o.s.

Thanks for the pics! I still can't get over this light's awesomeness!

that is one bad @ss flashlight......wicked cool looking.
thanks for the beamshots!

The bezel is designed so that a traffic directing cone can be snapped on to it. The cones are available in red-orange, yellow or white. The bulge in the middle of the head is a plastic heat barrier. This is to keep the electronics and batteries from getting fried from the LED heat. 14 watts is a lot of energy. Most operations with the FR1000A will not require more than 1/4 power output, (250 Lumens) or less. If you hit somebody with the light at full power at night up close they will see nothing but spots for the next 15 to 30 minutes. The light will work down to 3 volts, but 4.5 volts from three AA batteries in the optional battery compartment is better. During emergency conditions like Katrina you can usually find AAs. AT 10% two 18650s should run the light for 12 to 15 hours. That is still about 100 Lumens of output.

oh nice a 3xAA body.
it would do well on the night patrol as well.

That it would.....I am assuming that batt's and charger are not included. Where did you pick up your rechargable batts - any recomendations as far as supplier for the night patrol/first responder batt/charger combo?

I prefer the AW brand 18650 protected cells(peace of mind vs the cheaper
no-name brands). Depending on who has what in stock, either from
lighthound or 4sevens. Peak might even sell batt+charger combos as well, i
just never asked.

I use a Triton hobby charger, it wasnt cheap, but i'm knee deep in lipo
batteries from r/c. I do have a portable Apache 2020 charger that runs off
a 10AA brick for charging at the r/c field or at work.

thanks for the advice on the AW cells- did you get your eigers yet?
