Fixed Surefire Pricing

Surefire seems to have a fixed pricing agreement with its vendors to prohibit lowball or loss-leader pricing to protect the value of its brand, e.g., the same flashlight is essentially going to cost you the same regardless of where you buy it.

There is a vendor that sells through amazon (not amazon itself, but one of the partner vendors) that is selling some SF's a fair (15%) discount (i am not affiliated with this company at all). my question to the flashlight cognoscenti is is this on the up and up? could these be bootlegs or fakes, or has this day and age of trickery just blinded me to a good deal?

I can't speak to the particular seller you've located, but I've shopped around a lot online and found lots of SureFire lights available at discounts.

hmmm, i'll have to check around. In looking for LX2's, the only discount i've seen is one retailer selling it for one penny of (194.99).

Look on eBay.
I know not everyone likes to shop there but you can find NEW LX2's for right around $150

eBay stores seem to have the cheapest prices I have found.

Good luck!

x2.... So far I got an M2 for $99 and a 6P for $42. Both of my lights were NIP, for some reason the bar code identification was cut out of the 6P box (??).

In regards to price fixing, authorized dealer violations, warranty from non-auth vendors... I have no idea how all that works. But thats the beauty of a P60 host, they're so rock bottom simple.. I don't really care if they are warranty covered or not. I can repair/fix them just as well as any Surefire technician, and replacement parts are all over the CPF marketplace.

Or you can check the dealer's section for OpticHQ. Send them an email for a price quote....you'll be pleasantly suprised.

I was under the impression that vendors were allowed to sell SureFire products to consumers at a discount, but that they weren't allowed to advertise the products at those discounted prices. Maybe this somehow doesn't apply to certain sellers (like the one at Amazon you found), or maybe it only applies to direct/official dealers of SF products (i.e., not "unofficial" sellers who get products through distributors; not sure if SF's are distributed as such), or maybe it's an across-the-board rule, but what hasn't come to SureFire's attention hasn't been enforced...

We have the exact opposite problem here in NZ - the local (and only) agent sells their surefires at about 2x the US retail, yet surefire don't make them sell them at MSRP!

So we don't buy from them, and find better deals overseas.

There is a local dealer? I don't even check locally most of the time, it's easier to order online and almost always cheaper.

I bought a Surefire A2 Aviator for US$95+US$12.95 for shipping from CPF Marketplace - much better than the US$199 full retail price.
There are still 2 square body A2 lights left - http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=200533

Luckily I got my Surefire M6 before the pricing policy went into effect , I think I paid $220 :naughty:

The NZ dealer for Surefire is http://www.tacticalsolutionscorp.com/

Good for a giggle if nothing else.

They want NZD $999 for an M6. Thats $750 USD!

Or at the other end of the scale:

G2 - NZD $ 110, USD $83.

It's no different this side of the Tasman ;)

This topic calls for some care to be taken by members when replying. SF policy in the USA is that dealers are not permitted to offer discounts, and could have their dealership withdrawn if they do offer them. Members should therefore be very careful indeed about posting/naming possible sources of discounted Surefire lights.

SF's policy elsewhere may vary from one country to another; and this is certainly not the place to discuss any issues concerning restrictive competition practices etc.

eBay is a different matter. eBay links are not permitted here on CPF, but may be posted in the appropriate section in the MarketPlace. Members have reported good and bad experiences with eBay, so there will always be an element of chance when buying.

Speaking now purely as an ordinary member, not a moderator, my recommendation based on numerous purchases would be to build up a good relationship with a reputable USA-based CPF Authorised Dealer, and buy from that source.

A very good alternative is to buy from reputable sellers in B/S/T in the MarketPlace, where excellent deals can be had, and most "used" items are in as-new condition.

+1

I've obtained a few lights this way and I'd have to agree 100%

I was at a gun show a few months back and at the official Sure Fire table they had a M6 marked down to $250! I too didn't think they could change the prices, but perhaps the light had been there for a long time and the vender didn't know any better:whistle:. I would have got it, but to buy it would have been a waist of money. I already have a WE M90 EO-13 so what would I have gotten extra:shrug:? Instead I spend that money on a early "A" series M48 rifle:thumbsup:.
