Flashlight for friends car: They want a 2xAA to 4xAA size (no CR123s, only common size batteries).

I was looking at the Fenix L2D (for a nice one), CH V2 Ultrafire (cheap one), or maybe the Streamlight PP 4aa (durability), but I think it'll lose due to the less efficient LED and lack of spill.

Your opinion? Any other light you'rd recommend instead? Thanks,

What's the purpose of this car light? Is it for emergencies or...?

Depends on how cheap you are! ;) MiniMagLED 2AA and 3AA are on sale at Walmart (at least they are at mine). Relatively cheap and easy to replace. If you're friend is not a flashaholic, they'll proabably love it. And it's no great loss if it is damaged/destroyed/lost/stolen.

Depends what its for really. If one needs a car light for lighting up the engine comapartment, check tires etc, Inova X1 comes to mind. MagLeds as Quickbeam pointed out also. I have the LRI Photon Freedom Micro permanently in my Pajero. It is small but it does the job. It also blinks useful for emergencies.

I think L2DCE would fit the bill for an emergency car light. Nice levels, long runtime, and blinking modes to attract attention.
Don't forget the e2 Lithiums if it's not going to be used often :)

If you want 2 x AA for a car, I'd go with one of the Fenix options. Don't get the Streamlight PP 4AA lux, I've got it and a car would not be it's best use. I keep a G2 in my main car, another with the Fenix L1P, and my wife's has a Cyclops 2xCR123. Each car also has extra flashlight batteries. I also always have a FF3 in pocket, my wife has a Jet-C LE. Oh,and you can find extra fauxtons on all our keychains and extras in the cars.

Rayovac 1watt, 2AA, LED from K-Mart. 45 Lumens with 4 hours of runtime. About $25. Comes with lanyard and pocket-carry clip.

It's actually made by Nuwai. A quality light, here's a review of the 3watt version I believe.

The 2AA or 3AA version of the Mini-MagLED is also a good choice.
