Flashlight will no longer change modes

Hello, I am in need of some help.

I own an EagleTac T100C2 MKII and have ran into a big problem. I unscrewed the head because I wanted to oil the threads since it sounded a tiny bit "grindy". Well, I did that, lightly oiled the threads, and screwed it back together... and now it will no longer change to high mode. It's supposed to be on normal mode until you completely twist it tight, which is when it turns to high mode. Now it permanently stays in normal mode. :(

There is a metal ring with a little gap on the outside of it that does move around, and I'm thinking it maybe might have moved a bit? I'm not sure, but I do not know what to do to fix it. Does anyone here know what could be causing this? Should I keep moving the ring slightly and screwing it back in?

I have been attempting just that for the past 20 minutes, and have had no luck in getting it to work right again. I would really appreciate some help from you flashlight gurus, to help me fix my stupid mistake. I should've never even touched the head :ohgeez:

It's more likely a problem with connections and threads. If you cleaned and lubed them, you may have overdone it on the lube and that might be preventing the change. Wipe the threads off with a clean lint free towel, leaving just enough to make sure they're just barely moist. Also check all threads for flash or debris that may be stuck in them and clear anything you find. This is usually the first step when troubleshooting pretty much any light. If you got oil on the contacts, that could cause some interference in the contact.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't put much oil, but I did a complete wipedown on everything inside the head/threads, and it still doesn't want to work. I'm not sure what to do... I believe these EagleTac lights don't use the threads for the connection, but some metal inside the body. Anyone with these lights have anything like this happen before? Or is my light defective? I just don't see how just removing the head once could cause something like this.

I hsd a similar problem with a 4Sevens Quark and that worked fine again after I was advised to polish up the contacts inside the unit. I hadn't lubed the thing myself but no doubt transferred something when I was installing batteries or whatever. If that doesn't work, perhaps it's time for a new light before it quits on you completely.
