For anyone who has either of the above Mag heads, I would appreciate any input you could give me on performance of these. Pros / cons etc.

I'm currently building a Maglite and am not sure which of the two I would purchase. Obvious difference is price I know, maybe further throw with the FM3V-2 as well, while the Throwmaster offers simple attachment to my current head. ANY feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

(edit.) BEAMSHOTS... anyone:confused:

To some degree, it depends on your bulb. The 3" captures more overall light, while the 2.5" tends to clean up smaller bulb artifacts and give a more focussed spot beam.

However, I just finished comparing the 3" which has a slight texture on bottom half; blending into SMO in outer half, and with both the 64625 & 64623 bulbs, this had a much improved, better looking, less artifacts, and brighter hotspot than the 2.5" which is SMO.

I then switched to the other 3" which is all SMO, and it was more like the 2.5" but a little brighter. I had not realized until now how much of a difference that advanced textured mix on most of my 3" reflectors made. I don't think FM has any of those style reflectors left though.

I need to do some comparison shootouts to show all these variations.
