Frankenlight challenge: Best homebrew flashlight for $50 in parts

Assuming you start with nothing but a soldering iron and some solder what would be the best way to go? Or for that price range would I just be better with an Ultrafire or Romisen?

you could probably do a 3d maglite and p7 for around 50

It all depends on your abilities, what tools you have access to, and your creativity, as Lighthouse one has shown. For example, I have a miniature mill that I can use to make stuff with and I have yet to make a flashlight because my abilities with it are lacking.

Lighthouse one, those are such cool lights! Just be glad that Uncle Sam had outlawed selenium photoconductive drums years ago. All current photoconductive drums are supposed to be safe to handle. It must have made a real mess extracting those, too!
