Funny marketing speech from Apple! (NiMH batteries and charger)

Re: Funny marketing speech from Apple!

looks like it, and probably tastes like it too!

...not that's i'd try eating a battery of course ;)

Re: Funny marketing speech from Apple!

Yeah but they haven't made an "AppleLoopy" tester. I want to see a miniature Steve Jobs figure whose eyes light up to indicate the charge. Mind you, they'll have to "Think Different"ly to decide where you shove the battery!

Re: Funny marketing speech from Apple!

So why do they call them AppleLoops?

Do they taste like apples?

You don't get it dad... they just do!

omg I would buy that.

I wonder how long it would then be before Micro$oft also brought out a range too, and naturally you'd have a Bill Gates tester, brown jacket, elbow patches and all. You could buy both testers and indulge in "Geek Wars". A latter day He-Man and the Masters of the Technological Universe.

Actually, I've just thought of a great (and silly idea). Someone should actually make a line of Geek Hero action figures. But who else to put in the list? I feel a Café posting coming on! :tinfoil:

Re: Funny marketing speech from Apple!

So these are basically Apple's version of Eneloops. I don't know who this would appeal too. Most of us already have good chargers. I guess it's cool that it's small and portable.

The price isn't bad at $30 for the kit and for the first time, there is no Canadian Tax added. The kit was also added to BTO pages when people order computers. I guess their first public is people who purchase Apple computers and wireless accessories. Remember, Apple want to show they are now environmentally friendly! While surprising from Apple, the charger is a good move and I'm sure they will sell a lot of them...

Certainly the size is nice... but I don't want a wireless keyboard and I own a wireless travel mouse I almost never use.

At least it doesn't seem to carry much of the usual Apple tax. Charger seems nice, reminds me that I've been wanting to find a nice 4 cell charger although my Eneloop charger isn't bad.

I agree--these are probably Eneloops... but I'll be curious for one of our team to verify that.

Keep us posted!

Are these original generation Eneloops?

Apple says 80% after one year, my new Costco 1500x says 85%

Re: Funny marketing speech from Crapple! (NiMH batteries and charger)

This is just another example of marketing weenies hyping up a twenty year old technology. Gee, so their battery charger shuts down when the batteries are full - I bet nobody ever thought of that one before. These people are more full of (fill in the blank) than my toilet.

Be careful, the charger drops Voltage if you hold it with your hand!

I am rediscovering just how good the bluetooth Mighty Mouse is for anything but gaming, although its scroll ball has a bad habit of getting clogged. :fail:

I've been meaning to pick up some more Eneloops, so I'll probably grab one of these for the travel charger when I get a few bucks to blow.

True, but an idle apple charger, as I read this, uses a tenth of an average idle third-party charger. That's not nothing. Also, a lot of people are used to dumb chargers that take 12 hours to charge and don't even bother with termination at all. (I still keep one around for refreshing deep-discharged batteries, but nobody should be relying on them anymore!)

It's also not necessarily anything. Someone would have to verify their claims and see if a higher consumption is a common trait among other chargers or if this is just mostly fact-spin from Apple's marketing.

For me the Magic Mouse has become my daily user. It is much better for scrolling than the Mighty Mouse (which was awesome, but now past its prime), appears to have even better tracking, and the support for multitouch is real nice. The only problem is the default setup does not allow for middle-click anymore, but can be enabled real easily with a 3rd party utility that I forget the name of right now. The cool part is I can scroll in any direction, and I can scroll an entire page with a flick of a finger.

For gaming though, I take out my Logitech Wireless Optical Trackman. IMHO trackballs are still one of the best gaming input devices available.

Sometimes I think the Apple skeptics/haters are just as bad if not worse than the fanboys.

I too would like to see how the power consumption is on other chargers although if various power bricks for devices that I've tested with a Kill-A-Watt are any indication there are significant power savings to be had "the Apple way".
